A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness." ~ D.H. Lawrence "Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?" "Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost." ~ Seneca "People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect." ~ Daydream Nation "All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death." ~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes "The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road." ~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita "It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." ~ William Blake Think about it Musicalities! Kill that boredom!

Wednesday, September 2, 2009 Today was the first day of classes. I woke up at 5:50 to get dressed and do all my morning prep, which really is only getting dressed and washing my face and sitting around for half an hour doing nothing important. I met up with Saeedah at 6:45 or so, and we went to our first class (which we have together). Discover New York starts at seven in the morning. D: There were people waiting outside the classroom so we just kind of stood there and waited. We were all asking each other if we were supposed to go in, because there were all these other people inside already and they looked like they had been in there for a bit. Turns out that they just got there earlier than us, so we went inside and sat down and got some papers. I'm really sleepy right now. That intense-looking dancer guy is in that class. Unfortunately I didn't learn his name because I DID NOT GO INTO THE CLASSROOM EARLY ENOUGH. D: Anyway, second class: Psychology We have this option to either participate in a psychological experiment or write a paper. Hell, I would participate in an experiment even if it wasn't required. It sounds mega fun. :0 A girl told me that the teacher isn't very good though. We'll see... Third class: Emergence of Global Society Seems rather uninteresting so far. I mean, it's just the first day of course, so I can't make any real judgements, but ehhh.... One of my roommates is in the class, too. I have like, a long break between my second and third classes on M/W/F, so I was sitting with Casey around the Great Lawn and we were just chatting. She left though, to go put some stuff in her room, so I talked to this guy from my Orientation group, who, not surprisingly, did not remember who I was. Ah well. He's a commuter, so the chance of us being friends is low. Not trying to say I don't like commuter students or anything, but we don't have any classes together and the commuters don't hang around the campus except for their classes, so really.... like I said, low chance. I am seriously so sleepy right now. Last night I was hanging with Casey and Saeedah in the latter's room, which is freakin' luxurious in comparison to mine. Videochatted with Alice, participated in shenanigans... you know, the usual. They have pretty good pizza here, but otherwise the food isn't that great overall. Going to go... sleep.... blah.... [Going to download Kodak Easyshare so I can get some pictures up, but until then it's just text entries] ---Edit--- OKAY, PICTURE TIME. :D Um, the Statue of Liberty from the boat we went on. Woo, leaky mozzarella sticks. My croissant this morning was horrible, so I shredded it. There's Casey on the right, and then the guy I talked to on the left. End! 3 Comments. ahh, shenanigans, that place with the mozarella sticks and the goofy shit on the walls. pizza = neccesity. have some ramen, too. those are always popular. and salty. » thaitanic on 2009-09-02 02:34:53 hopefully your classes aren't boring for the whole year. that'd be a disappointment. man those mozzarella sticks look good! and I've been wanting pizza for some time now. . . pizza hut isn't as good as ny pizza, but it's the best Vegas has to offer; at least that I've tried so far. supposedly there's this NY pizza place in town that serves pizza that tastes pretty close to what NY actually has. I'll try it eventually. » LostSoul13 on 2009-09-02 09:53:09 haha weird. you're in college. » The-Muffin-Man on 2009-09-03 04:49:26
