You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

Questions by December, don't forget.

---

I'm tired, and I'd like to take a nap, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep....

Okay, but seriously, without the poetry references? I am tired. And I've got homework to do. Well, mostly just reading. But still.

I should work on the Wellness project... not much time now. Alice said we could work on the weekend, I think. I've got to figure out how laughter chemically affects the body...

I'd really like to have some time where I don't have to think about anything. Maybe I've been wanting that for a while, but recently I've figured out what it was exactly.

Today I found out that a lot of my classmates use Sparknotes for the Lit. readings. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just really out of it all the time, or naive or something... It made some sense of things, though. Here I just thought I was terribly incompetent all the time, when really everyone was cheating.

[Side note: Edith was saying how she was wishing she could get into a car accident because of the stress she was going through. I'm wondering how many of our peers feel the same way...]

The pressure is getting to me...

---Edit---

Watching Buying the Cow on Comedy Central. It's pretty funny. Just saying this so I won't forget later...

Heh.

I know that I read somewhere that laughing somehow can decrease levels of stress hormones like cortisol, dopamine, epinephrine, etc., and it can increase levels of hormones like endorphins, but I don't think they ever said how that works. I am going to do a PubMed search on it and get back to you in a little bit. Hopefully someone's done the physiology research on that...

Also, re:test. It wasn't as hard as I expected, and I think I did well enough to reach my target of 70%. If I get a 70%, then on the final I can get a 75% and still pull an "A" in the class, so the situation isn't as dire as I thought it would be. I can never really tell with that professor though. Her partial credit is whacked out sometimes...

Don't let it!
I dunno, just being rude in general or something. I guess.
» middaymoon on 2008-11-13 08:11:54

You're right
I didn't notice that on the paiting you're right xD
» Ari89 on 2008-11-13 09:28:14

You're not incompetent or stupid or whatever for not cheating. You could miss out a lot sometimes when you don't read the whole story.

The 75% on the final would be a C+/B-. That's what I have to get on the final to still get an A-/A in the class overall. (There's still the possibility of a grading scale adjustment by the end if a lot of people fuck up, but that's the estimate right now.)
