A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness." ~ D.H. Lawrence "Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?" "Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost." ~ Seneca "People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect." ~ Daydream Nation "All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death." ~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes "The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road." ~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita "It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." ~ William Blake Think about it Musicalities! Kill that boredom!

Not that the entry was super interesting or anything. And I don't really care at all. Just thought I'd say something. ---Edit--- Message received after attaching my (actually good, I'm surprised) Beowulf essay outline to an email: (I added the exclamation mark for more emphasis) ---End of edit--- Made ginger oatmeal cookies yesterday. I'm fairly certain I will make them again in the future, as they were very yummy. And everyone who tried them agreed with me. About the taste, I mean. My mom is home from Singapore. Right now she's either sleeping or out, I can't tell since the door to my parents' room is closed. Ah well. I'll find out later. Saturday is my birthday/party. I don't believe I've had the party on the same day as my birthday in a while. Few years, at least. Hopefully- HOPEFULLY, everyone (or a good majority of the people I invited) will come. I still have to figure out lunch, and maybe a few more items for the scavenger hunt list, but other than that I think I'm pretty set. I was considering getting a few movies in case some people don't want to do the hunt. So this is more like a big hangout than a party, but I hope that's okay with people. I just want it to be casual.... And also I feel really uncomfortable when everyone's attention is on me. Like when I was younger and I'd invite the whole class and all of them would want to be around me. Just got another call with silence on the other end. :| My mom picked it up too, so I know she's here... but I wish I could figure out who keeps calling and hanging up/not saying anything! ---Edit--- I've been thinking of a way to do the mirror box for several years now. It's something to do with seeing eternity... but in order to see in there has to be light inside and I want it so that there's nothing in the box... Anyway, this music video just got me thinking about that again. Also it's not a half bad song. (Battles is an interesting band) I saw this shirt for Squirrel Nut Zippers and then looked them up. Their music isn't what I normally listen to, but it's more interesting with the video I think. 6 Comments. Hm To get makeup off, usually I just rub my eyes a lot. I don't actually take it off. I just wait a few days for it to come off itself. Plus, some rinses off when I wash my face/take a shower. Sometimes when the makeup is too caked on, though, I use a makeup remover that doesn't have oil in it. » Steigenator on 2008-09-18 07:51:22 Whoa, those are pretty cool songs, actually. Fairly outside the realm of "normal" stuff. :J And the cookies sound amazing. I always read about you cooking and it makes me hungry. » Unicornasaurus on 2008-09-18 08:27:28 It's just around the edges where I can feel it a lot. I NEVER wear eyeliner. and the eyeliner I wore today was like, the thick stick kind. I only wear mascara, so having all that gunky crap on my eyes made me feel it a lot, hahaha » Steigenator on 2008-09-18 08:35:46 Re: I failed miserably in trying to control my dream cycle last night. It really is difficult trying to think of one thing only without attaching anything to it. But there really is a sense of frustration when you try to "hold onto" a dream and having it slip away from you as you wake up. Scavenger hunts are pretty awesome birthday parties. Where are you having yours? A park? » yourcupoftea on 2008-09-18 09:19:28 Re: My expertise in scavenger hunts usually is to find the hardest item on the list while everyone else on my team gathers the rest. That and.. (secretly) spy on the progress of the other team. :3 » yourcupoftea on 2008-09-18 11:42:20 R:C It depends where you go. At Pomona, I rarely had any sort of multiple choice test because that format typically does not do a good job of evaluating a student's true understanding of the subject material, especially in science classes. But my physiology professor here evidently uses them, but then again, that is because there are something like 80 people in the class, so she's probably doing it out of practicality. » ranor on 2008-09-18 11:42:44
