Barren Illusion
"If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality. Perhaps the facts most astounding and most real are never communicated by man to man. The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched." - Henry David Thoreau

Yankees

Old news: I was aware of the rivalry between the Red Sox and the Yankees, except I didn't know the whole history behind the "curse." New news: Yankees lost Game 5!!!! Nooo... then again, they've already won a lot. I'm not a big fan of baseball, but I'm a Yankees fan. Ambivalence, do I know thee now? ...Anyway, I remember betting three years ago during the subway series (NY Yanks vs. NY Mets) in Global class. If we bet correctly, the teacher would give us extra points on a test or something. Eh... I bet on the right team, but too many games. Anyway, it's back to the Bronx for Game 6! In reality, I haven't been watching the games at all. I just follow the scores. I used to watch the (Yankees) games, but I have better things to do now. It's nice if they win this year, but it was nice when they won those 26 other times too.

Can't think of any significant NY happenings... except on the subway this stupid bitch, who was standing up talking to her friends, kept touching me (I was sitting down). She was hovering over me worse than a bee helping a flower mate and kept knocking her skanky legs into my hands (I was reading a book). ANNOYING!

P.S. Heh, isn't this Terrence and Philip or something from South Park? "Shut your fucking face, uncle fucker..."
P.P.S. Why does it look like they are arguing in Japanese?

NJ
mircoles, 12 de noviembre, 2003
Really off-topic: I went into New Jersey earlier this week! Oh-ho... anyway, nothing much, just checking out Newport Centre Mall to go to a certain store so I could utilize my dumb card. I've just realized I never spent too long in Jersey. I used to go to the mall and watch movies at a ridiculously cheap price (cheap compared to New York's 10 dollars, anyway). It costs 3 dollars for a round trip (used to be two...) on the PATH train, so total, it would be about $9. Plus, the mall's huge and I could always find something, and NJ has lower tax (six, but it used to be three!). In Manhattan, it would be $13 if I went on the subway... of course, now it's 4 dollars for a round trip. Inflation is confusing. Well, then it wasn't really convenient to go anymore after 9/11... because the station was hundreds of feet below WTC, and I live fairly close to it. Anyhow, I didn't find what I wanted and went home sad and in the rain (well, misty drizzle).

Britney Spears Got Married?
domingo, 4 de enero, 2004
...Then got it immediately annulled. Why I am not surprised? Did some tequila and a 'Friends' episode inspire her? Well, it's all "reported," so maybe I should have some doubts about our beloved B.S.
Hee, I finally got my RK Theme Song Collection CD... Yaaarg... having to take a subway and bus to Queens just to get it... (an anime "warehouse"). The train ride was nothing, but I accidently took the bus that went in the wrong direction and rode it for almost half an hour to Jamaica rather than the 10 minutes to College Point!! Stupid!! At least I wasn't alone... but when I got on the bus that went in the right direction, I think it was the same! I thought the driver looked suspiciously familiar, and I remembered this cracked part above the exit (and my friend recognized the oil stains on the back of the bus). How embarassing...

Happy late New Year and early Three King's (and way early Chinese New Year's -- money, money, money).

My Friend is a Drag Queen
lunes, 12 de enero, 2004
Okay, I lied, but I wish it were true! I need some more interesting friends. On the topic of drag queens, I met my first today, on the subway, no less. Dunno if it was a transvestite... but definitely a cross-dresser. The big-bonedness and the facial stubble gave it away; also the patellas (kneecaps) were protruding in a rather un-feminine fashion. We got off at the same stop and I was surprised I was (slightly) taller than him! And he was wearing platforms!! He had very nice hair, though. I've seen some pretty hot Thai transvestites from photos my friend had took when she was in Thailand, but this person was like on the opposite side of the spectrum. Sorry, person... danhai nei jun hai ho wut dut (nay jeen hai ho chiew yeang [danshi ni zhen shi hao chou (pero usted es muy feo)])!!!

Whoo. Hoo.
mircoles, 3 de marzo, 2004
Wow! I'm back after so long... not like anyone visits anyway... sniff. Surprisingly, life has been a lot more boring than usual, so I don't really have anything to write. However, the 6th Avenue subway, which I had been lasciviously lusting after for the past 3 years, finally returns to Brooklyn! Not that I live in Bklyn, but now it's hella quicker than waiting 10 minutes just to go two stops in 4 minutes, then waiting for another train to go to my destination. Also, I have been selling stuff at Amazon Marketplace... since November. And I've opened my domain... since February. I'm pretty late in reporting these things, ne? Who will be America's Next Top Model???? Ja ne.

I like pizza
mircoles, 21 de diciembre, 2005
I used to kinda maybe want a bicycle, sort of. Because of the stupid transit strike, now I kinda want one, maybe. Too bad I haven't ridden one in like ten years. Maybe I should buy blades, I can ice skate fairly well for someone who has gone less than once a year since I was nine, if I practice for a few minutes first. Do people still call them blades? I'm old.

My Name's Max Power, I Got it Off a Blowdryer
sbado, 13 de agosto 2005
So I came back about five hours ago after visiting some family. My bowels will never let me forget they are the rulers of my body; my motion sickness reared its ugly head as my uncle drove us around Connecticut looking at For Sale signs. I can handle vehicles moving down the high/free/express/roadway at 30 mph+, but once the thing starts lurching and turning around and cartwheelin', I WANT TO BARF. It used to be that I couldn't even handle subways; now I can do a merry jig on the subterranean tracks without turning any shade of green. But anything above ground (except trains) is tricky. I have to eat something before getting on the bus or I will die. If it's a car, just fly out to the highway and start driving from there because I can't handle city streets without mumbling abdominal curses.

Other than that, it was a nice change of pace and it was cool out there at night, temperature-wise. I hate the heat and want autumn and winter to come now. So I can wear lots of layers. I'm like an onion that way.

I feel like chicken tonight
viernes, 9 de septiembre 2005
I saw an old classmate of mine a couple of days ago on the subway; I was reading my book and she called out my name, which I was suprised at that she remembered. Then again, I still remember her name... so... yeah...

Later a trio of guys boarded the car and semi-surrounded me (this isn't what it sounds like). One of them stands next to me as I was sitting and raises his arm to hold onto the bar. "Hey, Pepe Lepew, buy a stick of deodorant," I want to say, "be considerate of the other living phyla," my mind screamed. Instead I bit my tongue and breathed through my mouth. It was murder most foul.
