Barren Illusion
"If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality. Perhaps the facts most astounding and most real are never communicated by man to man. The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched." - Henry David Thoreau

I'm So Happy I Could Barf
domingo, 21 de diciembre, 2003
Let's start with a "quote":

"I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said, 'Stop! Don't do it!' 'Why shouldn't I?' he said. I said, 'Well, there's so much to live for!' He said, 'Like what?' I said, 'Well...are you religious or atheist?' He said, 'Religious.' I said, 'Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?' He said, 'Christian.' I said, 'Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?' He said, 'Protestant.' I said, 'Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?' He said, 'Baptist!' I said, 'Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?' He said, 'Baptist Church of God!' I said, 'Me too! Are you original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?' He said, 'Reformed Baptist Church of God!' I said, 'Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?' He said, 'Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915!' I said, 'Die, heretic scum,' and pushed him off." - Emo Philips

[Dang... I heard this four years ago... I'm so old...]

Eeee!! I'm so glad it's finally break. I can see all the friends that I want to see in person. I actually feel happy (a rarity). Now I feel anticipation... now depression, because before I know it, vacation will be over. ::sigh:: My happiness doesn't even last 5 seconds. What's most likely coming up: Queens, a theatrical movie, some DVD movies, New Jersey, Alexander Hamilton's grave, and some general hanging out. More later? The world may never know...

I'm quite secular (yet I was more religious now than a few years ago...), but some of my most favorite songs are Christmas songs...

Merry early Christmas.

"AHH! Natural light!"

Usually I don't go to J&R's Clearance Outlet because there really aren't any good selections for a good price, unless they have their 99¢ CD sale (Lifehouse and Our Lady Peace last time), but I bought the Zatoichi/Sonatine DVDs for $9.99. It was unwrapped, but there weren't any heavy scratches on the cover and the discs were in perfect condition. Two movies for the price of one! Suck on that, everybody else. ...Though now I have two copies of Sonatine and I have Quentin Tarantino presenting the film... didn't he present Hero, too? Too bad I saw it two years ago, and bought it for $5.95, QT. Well... at least it's Quentin Tarantino and not Mischa Barton or something. Wow, I haven't typed this much about myself since the second entry. Maybe I'll talk about how stupid War & Beauty (HK drama) was next time! The possibilities are endless.

After watching ROTS (for the second time) on the 12th, I popped in my ANH DVD for continuation purposes and was transported once again to my relatively recent youth... and as scenes with Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) progressed I started to cry, which surprised me, but even more surprising, why? I knew he was going to "die," I had seen the movie at least 5 times (and about a different edition each time; thanks George). Or maybe it's because of my estrogen. Mr. Sandman
lunes, 8 de agosto 2005
I never understand dreams. I dreamt that I was lost with all my old classmates, and I don't mean lost-in-a-mall lost, but lost like that ABC show Lost. I think we were on an island and we were waiting for someone to pick us up. Anyway, a mystery ensues because for some reason my Manhattan Portage messenger bag was stolen. I go around asking people and finally it turns out Eddie took it and put it somewhere. So I confront Eddie and I say, "if you don't give that bag back to me you'll have to pay me $30 or $40 for it." He says he'll get it and it turns out all my stuff inside had been passed amongst the girls. Okay notice I said "girls" and not "guys" or "everyone else" because strangely enough I had feminine products in my bag (and this bag is not that big)... such as two boxes of tampons and a box of Venus Gillette razors. I confront the girls too and get my stuff back. And then something happened. Like a polar bear came out of nowhere in the hot jungle or puffs of smoke appeared or something.

(All actual people from my past and my real bag featured in my dream!)

It was weird since it was like a combination of two of my favorite new TV drama series to come out last year, Lost and Veronica Mars. Watch it on Wednesdays at 9 pm in the new fall season!!

Which reminds me, there's too much stuff coming out in the last two quarters of this year

This is all the stuff I want... that's available for pre-order

Drive Me Crazy
lunes, 19 de junio, 2006
I remember watching this in the theatre. Not bad for teen-movie fare, and definitely not a bad disc for $3.50. (Plus, it's got the trailer[s] with the "lost" footage of Chase rolling a tire down the hallway that, at the time, no one except myself and my friend remembered from the TV commercials!) It's got a gimmick, or several (dating someone to make someone else jealous, dressing up a guy to suit your needs, falling for your next-door neighbor) but what doesn't? It was written by Rob Thomas and I can definitely see parallels between this and his later work(s), especially in the dialogue. My only true gripe is that Nicole's mom and Chase's dad also got together, which is all kinds of squicky. Talk about incestuous. And the song that closes on this revelation is... "Wig-Wam Bam." Catchy song, but... ew.

"Wam Bam Bam / Gonna get you if I can!"

Put yourself in my place
lunes, 6 de marzo, 2006
I could handle Lord of the Rings sweeping the Oscars last year. But Crash winning Best Picture... just... no. (Triumvirate x-posted like whoa)

Edit: 24 tonight - OMG! Edgar! ;_; C. Thomas Howell! :)
Next week: how does nerve gas eat through a seal made of rubber, I'm presuming?

Women don't like being shot in the face
martes, 14 de agosto, 2007
I don't like titles. For me, it takes up too much time thinking up a good one so I almost always put something that has nothing to do with the entry, usually a quote, usually television (see: nearly blog I've ever had). It's more fun that way. It's like unwrapping a beautifully gift-wrapped present, with the finest-crafted paper and the curliest ribbon, only to get punched in the face.

My earphones are busted. Ugggggh. Another one bites the dust. This must be the seventh or eighth pair, I've lost count. With all the money I've spent on earphones, I could've saved up and gotten what I really wanted: headphones! The giant, cup-sized kind that covers up my big ears and causes me to ignore everything else around me and possibly cause some kind of accident. But I'd still have to buy earphones for easy storage when I'm out about the town. Really, I'd just want headphones for my computer, so maybe I will finally acquire a pair when I upgrade.

I have so much to do today: make a bank deposit, pick up package, buy Taxi Driver 2-disc special edition and earphones. No wait, that's not a lot to do at all. Mua haha! I love summers... when it's not sweltering. (Like today.)

Sin asunto

When I wear white shoes I am painfully aware of how white they are and HOW MANY PEOPLE SEEM TO STEP ON THEM! ARRRRRRGH!!!! (The NuTROL baboon image is very apropos. He knows how I feel.)

I haven't been on much, I mean I still click around and read people's nublogs, but I don't really participate as much as I used to... not that I participated a great deal in the first place, but definitely more than now. And it's not a total mystery as to why, either: I have too many blogs! I'm just stretching myself too thin.

Perhaps I'll cross-post more. I've only done that a couple of times, but I'll increase the amount. Yay?

So here's the biggest news, cross-posted: I chanced upon Law & Order: SVU filming (photos); Sorcerer's Apprentice is still filming in my backyard (tweeted); and I found out I was one of the first 100 people to sign up for Hulu.

That oughta hold the S.O.B.'s.
