Barren Illusion
"If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality. Perhaps the facts most astounding and most real are never communicated by man to man. The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched." - Henry David Thoreau

Really off-topic: I went into New Jersey earlier this week! Oh-ho... anyway, nothing much, just checking out Newport Centre Mall to go to a certain store so I could utilize my dumb card. I've just realized I never spent too long in Jersey. I used to go to the mall and watch movies at a ridiculously cheap price (cheap compared to New York's 10 dollars, anyway). It costs 3 dollars for a round trip (used to be two...) on the PATH train, so total, it would be about $9. Plus, the mall's huge and I could always find something, and NJ has lower tax (six, but it used to be three!). In Manhattan, it would be $13 if I went on the subway... of course, now it's 4 dollars for a round trip. Inflation is confusing. Well, then it wasn't really convenient to go anymore after 9/11... because the station was hundreds of feet below WTC, and I live fairly close to it. Anyhow, I didn't find what I wanted and went home sad and in the rain (well, misty drizzle).

I'm not sure why, but I have decided on writing a lot more here in the future, and I plan on returning to the mainland very soon. I will possibly recount this adventure. Meanwhile, I'm bored bored bored in summertime, but I love languages.

^^From the previous entry's comment page... hahaha this made laugh so much and I don't know why. I usually refer to the rest of the U.S., nay, the continent as the "mainland" because I live on an island... Manhattan island. -_-,

So I really came by to say I finally cleaned my keyboard today for the first time since uh, ever. Unless you count dusting it with a special electronics duster thingy a couple of times a year. I pulled out the keys and it was crustier than a hobo's ass crack, but now I have restored it practically to its former glory. Now it just looks gently used.

"Smell you later Bart... smell you later forever!
martes, 9 de agosto 2005
In about 12 hours I will be on a bus hurtling toward the mainland. But where? Halifax? Cheyenne? Tegucigalpa???? No, I shall be going along the Boston Post Road to southeastern Connecticut. And what exactly is in SE CT? Only Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, and PROXIMITY TO RHODE ISLAND!
Marge: Have you noticed any change in Bart?
Homer: New glasses?
Marge: No...he looks like something might be disturbing him.
Homer: Probably misses his old glasses.
Marge: I guess we could get more involved in Bart's activities but then I'd be afraid of smothering him.
Homer: Yeah, and then we'd get the chair.
Marge: That's not what I meant.
Homer: It was, Marge, admit it.

Be back in three days. "Keep cool mah babies!"

Why is Firefox so incompatible with my layouts and nutang? ...This sucks. Anyway, it took nearly four years, but I have a new layout. Not that it took four years to make it. I just don't like changing it that often (or sometimes, ever).

I was up on the mainland in New England last weekend, in a small city and while it was fun, I can't imagine not living in a large urban area. All the stores were closed for Easter! Sometimes, New England, the only time I can come up is when I have a holiday! How can I purchase your wares now??

I gambled at the casino using their free betting vouchers, but I didn't win. How come, when I indirectly bet before (telling my mom which numbers), I won a cumulative amount of about $450 (over the course of three visits), but now that I'm legally allowed on the casino floor, nothing?!?! (This is my second visit after turning of age.) At least I didn't lose money... except for paying for the tickets to get there.

My Not-so-Disney Vacation
sbado, 14 de julio, 2007
I went to Universal Studios, Epcot, and Sea World in Orlando, one per day, respectively. No offense against marine life, but it wasn't a great way to cap off a vacation. Maybe as a starter course, but I was let down. Oh, if only I went in the future when their water park would've been open! Seems like even they knew they couldn't keep people's attentions with just water-dwelling animals, expensive food, a few rides and some shows. It was like going to an extra-big aquarium with amusement-park attractions scattered here and there.

Of the two remaining, I can't decide which I like better. The first consisted mostly of "[INSERT UNIVERSAL MOVIE HERE]: The Ride" and the second was like the weird brother of prime rib. Well, at least I came away from this little excursion with a few things: extra freckles despite slathering on SPF 50 sunblock twice a day. Note to self: Kill the sun.
