T.O. Tries To Commit Suicide, Rev. Run Loses His Newborn Baby--But Is It A Hoax?
    Friday. 9.29.06 12:55 pm

Since hip-hop heads are usually sports fans as well, I found this info fitting. Last night I heard on ESPN reporting that Terrell Owens had an adverse reaction to the pain pills he had been taking for his broken finger/hand. He was rushed to the emergency room for care early yesterday evening.

But this morning sources are reporting that T.O. actually tried to commit suicide by overdosing on the pills. There was no adverse reaction. T.O. said he "was depressed" and even took two more pills after a friend of his tried to stop him from taking the previous number of pills. Doctors induced vomiting and he is physically ok now.

T.O. has been going through a lot of ish this season with being signed to a new team--the Dallas Cowboys--and being under a microscope since he's known for his outlandish antics on and off the field. He's even said previously that he feels like people are scrutinizing him and just waiting for him to do something crazy. I guess that could all get overwhelming. Damn T.O. He's also been in the gossip news about his on again off again engagement to a former NFL cheerleader named Felicia. I wish him all the best.

Sources are reporting that on Tuesday, Rev. Run and his wife Justine delivered a baby girl, but the baby died shortly after. She was born with all her organs on the outside of her body. On Run's House, everybody could see how excited they were about Justine's pregnancy and especially how happy she was about having a girl.

However, word is that this could all be a hoax since no other news sources are reporting this tragedy (other than TMZ). This news is not on MTV's website and since they were reportedly at the hospital at the time of the delivery, that is suspicious. Also, the Simmons daughters were spotted out partying this weekend with T.I., and if this story is true where the death happened Tuesday, things ring suspicious once again. And finally, it is likely that an ultrasound (which we can safely assume the wife of Rev. Run would get periodcally) would have shown organs on the outside of the baby's body long before the delivery. Whoever would make up a story like this has a special place down under. But still, this is sad news if true and prayers go out to Rev. Run and his family.

Check out Diddy's new track "Everything I Love" ft. Nas and Cee-Lo.

You can also check out a new track by Hi-Tek ft. Nas called "Music for Life".

And with all these Nas tracks posted, just FYI: It has been officially announced by Game on MTV's "Sucker Free Sunday" show and on BET's "Rap City" that Nas will have a single off Hip Hop Is Dead featuring Game. And there will be an 8-minute track featuring the two on Doctor's Advocate.

    Damn T.O.
I feel sorry for this dude. Its an example that money and fame ain't everything. People portray him as an asshole but this dude had a really bad upbringing. He wasn't even allowed outside until he was like 17 and his house was very abusive hence his poor social skills. Dude can't keep a friend to save his life. His past cries for help and attention were answered with ridicule and judgements so hopefully he can get the help that he needs now. I'd like to know what those sports analyst think about him, now that its been revealed he has mental issues.

Damn T.O. You be getting on my damn nerves acting feminine and when you let that Drew Rosenhaus become your agent and stick his hand up your ass like a puppet master BUT
I'ma pray for you homie. It's never that serious and if this is true, you are dealing with much bigger issues than we know. Stay up!

My prayers go out to the Simmons Family!!

RE: T.O.-This is just unfucking believeable! I still don't believe T tried to take his own life and I have seen conflicting stories so far. I will await the finalities.

    RE: Rev. Run

    Very sad tragedy.

And You, why did you end with "hype" of Diddy and Nas, when the other stories were dealing with tragedies? Que?

Posted by: Da Phoenix at September 27, 2006 10:46 AM

My prayers go out to Rev. Run. There can't be anything worse than losing a child.

As far as T.O. I hope it's not true. I think suicide is for sissies. That doesn't mean I'm downplaying his alleged depression. That is serious as hell. It affects EVERY aspect of your life. I still hold out hope that the brother was just in so much pain that he took more than he should have. I did it before. I was in unimaginable pain. The prescription dosage was the highest allowable under the law for that drug. I didn't try to kill myself. Shit, I was hurting. T.O may have just been in pain.

Tragic death for Rev Run family
    Friday. 9.29.06 1:04 pm

Posted Sep 26th 2006 11:11PM by Rachel Mosteller
    Filed under: Celebrity babies, Rumors
Rev Run (real name: Joseph Simmons) and his wife recently welcomed a baby daughter, only to have the birth turn to tragedy.

The baby was born via c-section Tuesday, only for doctors to announce that the baby's internal organs were all outside her body. The baby died shortly thereafter.

Simmons is a member of the rap group Run DMC and the star of an MTV reality show titled "Rev's House." The pregnancy played a major part in the last season.

Although Simmons' family has not confirmed this news, it is believed to be true.

TMZ is reporting that MTV cameras were in the hospital at the time of the baby's birth. What a horrible tragedy for this family.

    1. May God give you the strength to handle this tragedy........so sorry for your loss.

Posted at 9:45PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Pieta

    2. Wow. I am shocked. This is one of the saddest things I have read in a long time. As a fan of the show and Rev. Run's music, I offer the entire Simmons family my condolences and pray that they get through this difficult time. God bless them.

Posted at 9:47PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Logan

    3. Isn't something like this detected through ultrasound during pregnancy? I don't understand why cameras were there if they knew the baby was going to die.

    Very sad, though.

Posted at 9:53PM on Sep 26th 2006 by stephanie

    4. Oh wow. They were so happy when they found out she was pregnant.
    I can't believe it.

    6. My prayers are with him and his family! This is such a very sad situtation

Posted at 9:48PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Amanda

    7. I want to say I think this is horrible for the family, I watch the show during season, all I can see is Justine buying baby clothing early before pregnancy is known. I love this family, and show, and things happen for a reason. He is the "REV" and I know his family is praying. This has Happened but for this something Big Will Happen in Return. My thoughts are with this family.

Posted at 9:57PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Flight Attendant

    8. That's my question Stephanie. They didn't know they're was a problem before the baby was born.

    9. " a cruel twist of fate " ????

TMZ, have a heart! what kind of sensationalized writing is that?????

    11. Such a tragic event, I feel for the Rev and his family. I did not follow the show but either way it still is so sad. My prayers are with them to get through this terrible time.

    12. prayers go out to the family

    13. That's so sad...I hope they can get some time to themselves through this tragedy...

Posted at 10:11PM on Sep 26th 2006 by Snoopy

    14. WOW ! That is really heavy. I know what it's like to lose a baby at birth. It is devestating. So sad. You've decorated the baby's room. Bought all the furniture and had the baby shower. You never forget the loss. Her grief must be ten fold, with the media attention to add to it.

At least I suffered my loss in privacy. Thank goodness she has the support of her family and friends to get through this. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family in their time of need. It's time to turn off the CAMERA'S and let them grieve.God bless that little baby. God Speed. He or she had a higher calling.

    15. I AM SO SO SO SORRY. MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE FAMILY. I WATCH THE SHOW AND LOVE IT. I KNOW THEY WERE EXCITED.

Justin Timberlake is at the Top of Pop, Hip Hop and R&B
    Monday. 11.6.06 10:41 am
Justin Timberlake is doing the damn thing. For all those that hated on him along the way, it's time to drop it. Get off your high horse and drink this white milk like the rest of world. Because it's clear this kat is going nowhere but straight to the top.

And speaking of going straight to the top, his single "My Love" featuring T.I. and Timbaland is now #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. All that and he hasn't even released "Love Stoned" yet.
What I find curious is that Hot 97, home of Miss Jones and Funk Master Flex, are sponsoring his concert here in New York this coming February. That's kinda odd because aside from Summer Jam, Hot 97 doesn't really sponsor too many concerts and since they are the self-declared home of HIP HOP and R&B in the Tri State area, they opted for Justin as opposed to Beyonce, Jay Z, Diddy, T.I., Mary J. Blige or even Lady Sovereign. They've never even sponsored Eminem. Who's next, Fergi

The Kiss ... Is it Really that Serious? Crime Mobb's New Joint
    Tuesday. 11.7.06 10:27 am
For all of you who can't let it go, let's put this to rest once and for all ...

We all know that fathers and sons can be affectionate, but really tight homeboys is a new one. The kiss Baby gave his “son” Lil’ Wayne has been highly publicized throughout the Hip Hop community, and of course everyone has something to say about it. Now if you have seen the picture, I am sure you have joined the chorus of people yelling “Aw, hell no!”

But you have to look at a few simple things. First, is that the picture demonstrating the kiss was taken a very long time ago. It is clear that Lil Wayne was a teen and he is now in his 20’s. Second, if what they possess is genuinely a father-son type relationship, then it clearly was not sexually based, there for not homosexual. Still, the hip hop community has raised questions about Lil’Wayne and Baby’s sexuality. Wayne who has been praised and was the envy of many men for dating rapper Trina and now dates Solange Knowles, has defended his relationship with Baby in radio interviews, offering that the kiss was more “mafia-style” and that he and Baby are members of the New Orleans Black Mafia. Baby simply defends it by saying it was a term of endearment like a father would give to a son.

Regardless of what it is, the question must be posed, Is it really that serious? We are all aware that hip hop is extremely homophobic, but sometimes some things just go too far. If you look at the picture once more, you can see that none of the people around them seem bothered or offended by it. So maybe it was Mafia based or just a term of endearment that many are not used to, should they be condemned and questioned for it? Is their music any less believable or not as hot? The truth of the matter is, we fear what we don’t understand (or want to understand ). If they say that the kiss was a harmless, nonsexual gesture, they let it be that. But even if it wasn’t, ask yourself, when it comes to their sexual preference, is it really that serious?

    First!

Cosign...Why are people trying to make that acceptable? Under no conditions is that acceptable. People don't kiss their real daddy's like that.

Posted by: Chi J at November 6, 2006 10:57 AM

While I personally think that shit is way over the line, even for "an effectionate father-son relationship",
you do bring up a good point: they let someone take this picture, which they probably wouldn't if they were realy on some dl shit. Still, that shit is disgusting and not at all gangsta.

The Down South Cat Fight, Where is Hip Hop Headed?
    Tuesday. 11.7.06 10:32 am
First off, next week is shaping up to be a big week in the city with releases coming from Shareefa, Lil' Boosie and Gucci Mane's long-anticipated "Hard to Kill" album. I'm looking forward to each one of these albums. Even Boosie says that his album is real strong top to bottom (18 of 'em) with no reason to skip through any tracks.

Check in with me next week for my interviews with Shareefa and Lil Boosie.
BEEF!! Did anybody catch the "Queen of the South" battle between Trina, Jacki-O, and Khia. It went down on BET's "Beef: The Series" and it's developing into a nice little catfight. In case you missed it you know BET will run it some ALOT more though. It's like everybody wants a piece of Khia these days? I know she's from Florida but now in Atlanta so she's gotta hold it down. But you know what they say, "If you have people talking about then you must be doing something right."

This weekend, Tom Joyner and "The Skyshow" will be in town doing it up real big at The Atlanta Civic Center on Saturday, Oct. 21st at 8 p.m. Those performing include Cameo, JoJo (Mary Jane Girls), Switch and Kindred. Real heads might recognize some serious sampling that has been done in the game from all of these cats (except Kindred).

I really do try to be as objective as possible, despite what some might think. Yes sir, I love the south but I do try to look at things with a certain amount of obectivity when it comes to this thing called hip hop.

With that said, I have to admit that a great deal of the music coming out of all the regions is bordering on monotony. Real talk, I don't know if it's the beats, the lyrics or what? But the game needs a serious shot in the arm right now.

Are we stuck on punchlines too much? What happened to hip hop commentary on not just one song, but how about the whole album. It means NOTHING if you talk about Hurricane Katrinavictims on one song and the next 15 you're talking about moving bricks for guap. That's just real. The public is a smart public, believe it or not.

Do you remember when it was all good to pick up a Public Enemy, Hank Shocklee -produced disc and never know whether you would get "911 is a Joke," "Hollywood Burn," "Fight The Power" or "Welcome To The Terrordome"... even though the subject matter was different it was all relevant to the people listening. That awareness helped prevent us from being duped, and right now we're being duped as a country (played like a fucking piano as King Tee, Cube etc. would say) by you know who.

Sad part is, all the weight pushing and gloc totin' will make it easy for this flame we call rap to be stomped out when that time comes (there probably will come a time, don't know when -- but there will be an attempt made one day to shut this money maker down, too many cats eatin' ya feel)

But some of the negativity carries no weight. Yeah it's real life and it's what's happening in these streets but why advertise -- let the outsiders come figure out what's going on, why air out our dirty laundry for the world to hear.

And we wonder why we keep getting caught up. There used to be a time when trappin' was done on the low, now everybody want's to speak on it.

That's almost like getting on the field and yelling out, "Yo!!! We running a sweep to the left side!" And wondering why you got gang-tackled on the left side. Wake up, pimpin'!

My bad err'body I just felt like ventin' today...Must be the Tribe in the deck.

hat Does Rihanna Think of the Beyonce Comparisons? Also... New Joints From Mya and Nas
    Monday. 12.11.06 8:02 am
When I first interviewed Rihanna, she was still giddy about all the Beyonce comparisons.

“Beyonce… I get a lot of comparisons to her and that’s amazing. There is no artist to be better compared to than her. I adore her as an artist,” says Rihanna.
(if I had time I'd upload the embarassing audio)
Well aside from weave, wardrobe, close proximity to Jay Z and aspirations to be a bigger pop star than Janet, I'd like to add another similarity or burgeoning similarity. OVEREXPOSURE. Is Rihanna next in line for overexposure?

Rihanna has scored a few big deals lately that will ensure that her duck bill will be in your face for quite some time. She scored an LG phone endorsement. Dolce & Gabanna will be providing costumes for her tour. She is the new face of CoverGirl (fuck Caridee) and lastly I just recently read that the success of A Girl Like Me led Def Jam to re-release it in the new year and of course she'll be dropping another brand new project next year.

    WHAT THE FUCK!

That smells like when Bey had an album, a Loreal deal, a Pepsi deal and a movie on the horizon. And now the American public almost cringes at the mention of the name Beyonce.

Rihanna's 4th single is "Break It Off" featuring Sean Paul. Since the blacks didn't buy Rihanna's cd, listen to it here.

But Ri Ri ain't the only one with a big agenda in 2007.
It seems Mya putting her Liberation on hold was a good thing. Those couple singles that were floating around last year weren't anyone's favorite. She teamed with Lil Wayne for her rumored first single. It's called "Lock U Down."
    Listen to it here.

Mary J. Blige's Reflections hits stores tomorrow. Since you are all serious Mary devotees up in this piece I am sure you all probably got a homemade Mary best of cd anyways. Here is one of the new tracks. It's #3 on the cd. The tracklisting is in the comment section.
    Listen to it here.
astly, Nas, whom I venture to say is the KING OF NEW YORK has some dope ass tracks on his cd. Chrisette Michele who appears on Jay Z's "Lost Ones" saved her best for Nas' "Can't Forget About You" which is the best use of the Nat King Cole "Unforgettable " sample I've ever heard. PageBlack don't you agree?
    Listen to it here.
