So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Sweet, Sweet Unemployment
Wednesday. 1.26.11 10:22 pm
So I'm going to be unemployed this summer (a.k.a "between jobs"), and boy, am I looking forward to it. A whole summer without any working, yippee ki yay!

I am so excited about all of the things I'm going to do, I can barely write my thesis. The only thing that keeps me writing my thesis is to know that as soon as I finish it I can be unemployed!! YAY!

Here is a list of things I am going to do whilst unemployed this summer:

1. Play the harmonica.
2. Play the guitar.
3. Play the bodhran.
4. Play the flute.
5. Draw.
6. Write poetry.
7. Finish my nanowrimo novel.
8. Read, read, READ. I have a whole separate list for this one.
9. Take a mushroom identification class.
10. Go owling.
11. Go the beach.
12. Go hiking.
13. Take a "giant ash-caldera" roadtrip.
14. Go the park.
15. Hang out at the local coffee shop.
16. Take an introductory blacksmithing class.
17. Buy ice cream cones.
18. Climb a mountain.
19. Make a music video.
20. Go on a ghost tour.
21. Watch MOVIES.
22. Finish painting my painting.
23. Make a "long-cat" scarf.
24. Take a wedding-cake decorating class.
25. Go to church.

I caaaaan't waaaaait!!

Until then, I'll just be here, working from 10am til 2am 6-7 days a week and counting eating dinner at home a couple times a week as my "hobby". :C

woot! that all sounds like so much fun! Maybe you could share your book list. I just started going back to the library and I'm kind of unsure as to what to get next. and is there any particular reason you have to work 16 hours a day almost every day of the week?

I am so there right now and I say being unemployed has never made me happier because I have the time to read so many books!

I'm sliiiightly obsessed with Hyperbole and a Half. I think it's one of the greatest things the internet has to offer.

I envy your hard work and dedication. And I'm almost a hundred percent sure we're not in the same job field, so at least I don't have to worry about you as competition! As for everyone else out there... They are my enemies.
» Amelie on 2011-02-02 02:01:39

Oh, and I'm super super super super super jealous of your list! All I did when I was unemployed was blog, crochet and check out old movies from the library. Not as fun!

Those sounds amazing! I would replace the ukelele with all the other instruments, but pretty much I could see myself doing any of the others.

26. Catch a fish
27. Learn either salsa or ballet
