A good dose of nostalgia
Monday. 2.18.08 1:46 am
Today was a day for extremes. For the first portion of it, I festered away in front of the computer playing the pointless yet equally addictive online game Conquer while devouring scores of Hershey's Hugs, which Brittany had so kindly donated on V-Day. After deciding that this was most definitely NOT going to help me achieve my first New Years resolution (props to anyone who can remember it), I ventured outside and proceeded to jump rope for about two hours, during which I only worked on two tricks: the Dark Side and the Sunny Day.

They sound corny, yes, but they are sooo effing hard. I came back inside with welts, scratches, a chipped fingernail, and a lot of irritation, for I had succeeded in completing neither. But I'm damn close....

I'm listening to the original Power Rangers theme song on my iPod. This was mostly inspired by Aji's Power Ranger video. It suddenly occurred to me how much I miss those guys, especially the first movie. Gaw. They were like essential to my childhood. Every Christmas present up till I was 10 had something Power Rangers in it. (I'm also listening to the X-men theme song as it was aired on Fox Kids...but not as many people are familiar with this)

Muffy over and out!

Do not try to bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, try to realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

Unfortunately for me, I'm procrastinating while eating chocolates I bought for myself which wasn't on V-day. Your first resolution has something do with jump rope and the world... Anyway, I know how corny things sound so god damn hard to do. Somethings sounds waaaaayyyy easier than done. Good luck with the two tricks.

I never watched Power Rangers... most likely because it wasn't on any of the three channels I knew.

And I most certainly do NOT have a rolling backpack!.... anymore. I'll admit I had one in sixth grade, and it was BRIGHT orange. But I haven't had one since then. Right now I have a black (fading to brown >:/) corduroy backpack that inexplicably squeaks when carried. I figure it's something to do with the straps but I don't know how to fix it...

the second one was one of the sound effects for mario paint. someone used the sound to play a song from Super Mario RPG.. the weird, funky face that appears in the video is the little icon for the sound effect for mario paint.

Like me an Digimon
You just gotta have it.

Have you heard any of the more annoying songs by Nine Inch Nails?

ha, you have to give in during the 'holidays' though. not eating chocolate on v-day {with the exception of those who just don't like chocolate} is like refusing good food on Thanksgiving because you're on a strict diet. it's just wrong.
re: yeah as strong as we think we are, compared to the animal world we're quite fragile. I'm not a fan of cats ... dogs are better.

They do.
I don't think it's the symbolism as much as the WAY he shows it. In comparison to His Dark Materials (based solely on the movie of the first book, mind you), I'd have to say Narnia wins simply because it doesn't offend the crap out of people. Haha

If you haven't read them you should think about doing so. Not to convert you or anything, but if you really wanna understand the whole thing, that's a good place to start.

Have you ever read any of the Bible?
» middaymoon on 2008-02-18 09:41:28

Hahaha
I find it helps if I go a chapter at a time.

But, you know, that's your decision. The books actually do make a decent summarization, from what I can remember.

Bedtime for me. Night.

that reminds me
Where are my chocolates? *scrambles around* Aw, heck, they're here somewhere. Anyway, yes, you're right. Those all have to be done in the first half of the year. Have you finished your FAFSA? I think so, no? This one is really for myself and hey, I doubt they are all that discriminating. We're giving them our hard-earned money, for heaven's sake! XD He's not really your stereotypical relative, just egotistic, vain, arrogant, conceited, needs to be knocked down a few hundred pegs. ^-^ You know, the usual.
Oh, and I commented myself about the dead celeb. Go read it, I don't feel like repeatin'. ;P

R:C
I suspect that many of us (i.e. those of us who got out of the house every once in a while) WERE those kids, but that does nothing to quell the churning tides of rage within me.

My intense dislike for the younger generation is the precise reason I can never teach K-8, or even maybe high school. I like sharing my knowledge of science with others, but I feel like I'd end up on the wrong end of a child abuse lawsuit if I were to teach anyone who's NOT in college (or who's not already operating at a college-level).

I mean, I like my sister even though she's almost 12, but I hate her when she's with her friends because most of the time they act so STUPID. God bless anyone who's able to put up with that crap, because for me, that is simply unfathomable to do so!

I remember X-Men on Fox Kids... just not the theme song. My parents didn't let me watch Power Rangers when I was a kid. They wouldn't let me watch Sailor Moon either. They didn't like people with "powers." And yet they let me watch X-Men... I guess mutants are just different.

The result of this was that I became embarassingly obsessed with anime in my tweens. My parents failed me.
