Baby Kaleb (Keep an open mind!)
Tuesday. 7.17.07 3:15 am

Has anyone been keeping up with the Baby Kaleb story? Am I the only one who hasn’t jumped to mob-like conclusions?

Seriously not cool. I know that family is suffering, but that’s no reason to take it out on the babysitter.

There is NO proof that the babysitter shook the baby. Seriously. The woman has a business, hasn’t had previous complaints (otherwise she probably wouldn't have a business anymore), and being a daycare worker she’s probably learned that it’s... um... bad ... to shake a baby?

Seriously people. The baby has bacterial meningitis. And last I heard, that can’t be caused by Shaken Baby Syndrome! And it certainly could be responsible for a lot of the baby’s other problems (trouble breathing, coma, mental retardation). Including the problems that point to Shaken Baby syndrome, since one of the symptoms is seizures.

Don’t be so quick to judge people just because some person (*cough*mother in pain*cough*) jumps to her own conclusions without proof.

I’m not saying she’s innocent, but I’m saying it’s not fair of this mother to ruin the woman’s business and life (she could get her kids taken away over this) just because she assumes that the woman shook her baby.

This reminds me of the recent story about the kid who drowned at Great America...

that's sort of like the parents that wanted to sue the guys of Jackass for influencing their kids to do stupid stuff, when it was in part their fault for letting them watch Jackass in the first place

Hmm
I was hoping for something else from this post. I feel bad for the family, anyone would, but I thought it was backward that one child gets all this attention when a nation in famine manages to get less publicity.

Anyway, moving on to your point...I don't know much about this story. I really don't care to, either. I don't know where people came to the conclusion that the baby has "shaken baby syndrome," but obviously they're not going to pull it from thin air. Maybe she's innocent, maybe she's not, I just feel like this little incident pales in comparison to the greater problems that are occuring daily in the world.

I take it you haven't read her myspace blog? First off, I didn't post it to put the blame on anyone. I posted it because I want people to pray/hope this baby pulls through all this. I have a son the same age and it just hit hard. I do feel the judge did the right thing by taking her license. Plus, the fact she cannot be left alone with a child (but her own) under the age of 18 until the trial is over with. I just want who ever did this to pay for it.

That's cool. I didn't want you to think I was throwing judgment on the babysitter. I have read her myspace page from the beginning. She is not allowed to go into detail because of the trail but she said they have enough evidence to put her (sitter) behind bars. All of Kaleb's family has been cleared of any wrong doing. But like I said I'm not putting the blame on anyone. I just want justice for this baby that never did anything wrong. I will continue to follow the story so I would greatly appreciate it if you find out anything more you will let me know. Thanks
