The best friend theory
Monday. 2.27.12 9:59 am
It is not my theory but it was told to me by a friend and I think it is quite right. Especially when your best friend hooked up with someone you have totally no idea of. Of course, being her/his best friend, you go into protective mode and all while you get to know this person better.

In all honesty, I started out disliking my best friend's boyfriend. After all, it started of with her complaining about how he is annoying her and all and suddenly, it turned 180 and she is in love with him! I was and still am happy for but this also throws whatever previously achieved equilibrium off. Months following that, my best friend is too preoccupied with her beau to bother with me and so I grew to resent the guy that took her away from me. It really takes a while to get used to having to share the person you love most in the most platonic way with someone new and what else, he is taking up all her time, leaving none for you! I'm pretty sure that the feeling is quite mutual between me and my best friend's boyfriend but we don't complain. I don't complain, I just find things to fill in that whole that is my best friend.

But I grew to know the fella better, cope with her going missing often better and the negative feelings towards him just dwindled down to probably the times when he doesn't know when to stop being so damned clingy. I think soon when he's established himself better, I'm going to think long and hard for a wedding present and it is going to be hard. Sometimes, the problem with me and my best friend is that she knows exactly what to get for me but I will always not know what to get for her. But I will cross that bridge when I've come to it, I have solved the problem of her birthday present about 8 months in advanced and I don't think I should worry myself about this for a few more years.

Anyway, the point of this entry is that... do you all feel the same way? Do you get this unexplained dislike for this guy, finding faults to strengthen your dislike until something he did/does opens your eyes? I'm quite sure when it is my turn, my best friend will not like my boyfriend much, for some time.

haha. well at least u know ur best friend has a bf. i don't even know until my friend has gone steady for half a year! but somehow i already knew the moment she talked about a guy she met but i didn't ask because i have a bad habit of not listening to my instinct.

i spend most of time alone so i don't really spend time with friends except for a few close friends. of course at times i feel kinda sad that they won't be spending more time with me, but ... i came to realise that they needed space too. and i as a friend have to give and respect this space. when they see us being supportive of them they will make the effort in spending time with us too.

i would be totally disappointed if my friends just totally ignore me once they get a steady. i think it's wrong. at the end of the day when they broke up .. who is gonna be their pillar? it's their 'former' friends.
