The Glad Game.
Until I was 16 my mom had very strict rules about watching TV and movies. We always ate at the dinner table and unless it was the news or Jeopardy the TV was not on while we ate. Compared to my friends I lead a very sheltered life. I wasn’t allowed to watch MTV and VH1, you know way back when they really did play music videos almost all day. Until I was 16 I also had not seen an actual scary movie and because of the late exposure to this day I’m still completely terrified of most movies. My first was The Relic. I know half of you are laughing, I know my boyfriend did when I told him, since it really is cheesy with a bad plot, but it still scares the crap out of me.
Over the holiday I DVRed Pollyanna which is one of my favorite childhood movies. There is something about this movie that always makes me smile. Sometimes I miss my childhood and look back on it fondly. Usually while driving to work I wish I could go back to the days where my mom would be driving me to school and then turning towards me to say, “It’s such a nice day. Want to play hooky with me and we’ll go to the beach/mountains/etc. instead?”
One of the main morals of the movie that has stuck with me throughout my life is “The Glad Game”, to be able to find something good out of any given event. My childhood was actually a rough one with many problems, but with the game I was always able to find something to be glad about from any given event. I like movies that teach positive thinking and not feeling sorry for yourself because things don’t go as planned or something bad happens in your life. I know I always feel completely drained whenever I’m in a bad mood since it takes such effort and concentration. It takes a toll on my body and I always end up with really bad headaches.
Just recently I’ve had to play this game. The apartment we picked has not only 8 other couples interested, but luckily I mentioned to the manager that we really want it. Since we looked into the apartment first we’re being given “first dibs” on the apartment. We’re taking a look tomorrow. The problem is that the people who were in the apartment gave their keys early so instead of moving in the middle of March which would save us a lot of money we may need to move the 1st of the month. I really wanted more time so things would go more smoothly. On the bright side though I have been constantly saying I wished we could move sooner. Now I get my wish. I’m a bit more frazzled by it since this sudden change is not got for people who are “planners” and I am definitely one, but in the end it will be worth paying a full month’s worth of rent to be able to move sooner. I will finally be closer to work and after being stuck in traffic for almost an hour because of an accident on 99 not having to go through that will be such a relief. If things work out starting the first of the month I won’t have to wake up at 5:30-6 am anymore and I will no longer be getting home at 6pm or later if I have any errands to run!
This will be my last blog for probably a couple of weeks. I am going to be very busy until everything is settled.
Noooo! You can't leave us! ={

Take your time. Less time on the road = more time to rest and relax. It's okay to leave us for a few weeks to get everything in order in your new apartment. I'll help you watch over Animanga until you come back since I'm not working anymore. I wonder if I can download the movie Pollyanna from the net.. It sounds interesting. I'm going to miss you!

The Relic was scarey. It has a lot of scenes that were in the dark. I think that works on your mind seeing that most people are "naturally" afraid of the dark.
