You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

Sunday, November 5, 2006
Well I finished my essay. It only took.... four.... hours. Wow.

I posted it in my Reading Room, as JMC suggested. Go read it. Give me feedback or something... I dunno. It definitely isn't the best piece of work I've done. Oh well. This is only the rough draft. And I have a speech to do.... :/

-Sigh- You know, sometimes I really hate school.

The Death Penalty
Sunday, November 5, 2006
I'm writing a persuasive essay on the death penalty. So far.... I've got almost nothing. I need two pages plus works cited....

Here is my essay (so far):

Off With Their Heads!

Anyone who's ever read Alice in Wonderland knows about the Queen of Hearts. A rather insane and whimsical character, she punishes every "crime" by ordering that the perpetrator of said crime's head be chopped off. In my opinion, she has the right idea, but she's going about it the wrong way. Executing people for painting things the wrong color is simply unreasonable. However, disposing of those who are dangerous or potentially dangerous to others is not quite so absurd. The death penalty has the power to make the world a better place, eliminating crime and keeping order, but only if used in a way dissimilar to that of the Queen of Hearts.

Many humanitarians and philanthropists argue that the death penalty is an extreme punishment that is inhumane and should not be used. Although this can be a reasonable statement, one must remember that if a proven murderer scheduled to die is released, he or she is free to possibly kill more people, endangering the lives of innocents. Is it better to spare one at the cost of many? It's also important to remember what got these people into jail in the first place; they committed serious crimes against innocent people, including, but not limited to, murder, torture, and rape. Although they may be kept in jail for life, many prisoners do get parole, and there have been cases where inmates on parole have killed. Executing prisoners convicted of murder prevents them from continuing their crimes.

Yeah I know it's only two paragraphs... and it's due tomorrow. :/ I'll finish it somehow.....

I wrote a gigantic post and it didn't go through. Infuriating.

I somehow got logged out when I was writing the entry and when I clicked "Create this Awesome Entry" it came up with the message "the baboons refuse to process your request." Damn baboons.

I don't want to write it up again so I'll just summarize what I was trying to say. I had a dream about the guy I thought I used to like and now I'm not sure if I'm really over him or not. It's pretty distressing.

Today I saw a beautiful chocolate cupcake at the Farmer's Market. But... it cost $2.50. I've realized I won't die without a chocolate cupcake. That is WAY too much for a cupcake.

I was thinking about posting some angsty poems but I'm not going to.

Chocolate cupcakes
Friday, November 3, 2006
I think I'm going to die if I don't have a chocolate cupcake....

That's all I could think about today.

"I want a chocolate cupcake. Yes. A chocolate cupcake. Mmmm"

In math the boy who sits across from me has been nicknamed "Cupcake" by the teacher... and he's black.....

Chocolate. Cupcake.

I had trouble not telling everyone at my table how much I wanted a chocolate cupcake. :/ If he hadn't been there I think I would've said it.

I'm going to make chocolate cupcakes. That seems like a good idea.
