A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence
"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"
"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation
"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes
"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita
"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

Search 'randomjunk' and you'll see. Oh yes you will.
I have decided to go somewhere tomorrow. Possibly the mall. Or possibly the beach. Somewhere outside of the house.
Some channel on TV was playing a bunch of old westerns. Clint Eastwood reminds me of certain people. He was funny in A Fistful of Dollars. :P
I STILL SAY HE AGED TERRIBLY.
Old and scary.
And that's all the mental scarring I'll do today. :P
According to blogthings I'm low-maintenance. Hurray...?
Damn side effects

How do you stand this? :S
Thursday, July 10, 2008
At home (in California) I use Windows NT 2000. Yes, I know, old, outdated, whatever.
My uncle has Windows XP, which, to be honest, I really don't like. Why does it have to pile up all the little... things that tell you what windows you have open on top of each other? It drives me crazy. >:|
Anyway, here's the exciting, not-related-to-the-above-stuff part.
First, a bunch of fireworks crap.
Whatever this was, it was too bright for the camera.
This pictures looks way awesome up close.
Don't try this at home, kids!
Technically I guess my uncle is holding it at home... but it's outside.
Fun stuff. I did this several times.
Some scorch marks.
That's how you know it was hardcore.
Do you see the foon?
My grandma lives with my uncle so her house is empty, and there was a large colony of huge roaches outside.
The snails here are cooler than the ones back home.
Fun for the whole family.
Looking past the funny name, does the subtext seem a little strange to anyone else who can sort of understand French?
Good cookies, anyway.
"Vehicle shown is a special project car, modified with some non-Genuine parts and accessories which may void the Scion warranty, may negatively impact vehicle performance and safety, and may not be street legal."
I found the fine print amusing, and can you blame me?
If your life is too low you're not allowed on the freeway.
(What does 'HP' actually mean here?)
Hopefully this entry isn't too long by now.
Good news if you're not visually impaired!

Cold pizza is not all they make it out to be
Sunday, July 6, 2008
Day old pizza that's been reheated (not in a microwave) is a lot better.
Spinach pizza was good today, would've been better if my uncle had had a toaster oven.
I hate reheating bread in the microwave, it makes it all hard and nasty.
For about five hours I've been trying to think of what I want to write in an entry. Normally I just put whatever random crap I'm thinking about down, but today... there was no random crap. :0
Dunno why but I seem to have a lot of dreams where some sort of awful apocalypse has happened and most people are zombies who want to murder me in painful ways. At least, I seem to have a lot of that kind relatively. If I organized all my dreams into different categories by type that particular kind would probably compose the biggest one.
Still haven't gone to the beach. :|
It's still July 4th here

Even though the date says it's tomorrow.
I guess it's tomorrow at home.
Today... what can I say about today? Well, I saw a black and white bunny named Oreo who was cute but not exactly what I was looking for. He lives with my great aunt, who currently also has two other rabbits.
She showed me her bread machine and demonstrated how it worked by putting some stuff into it.
My mom thought I was interested in a bread machine but I don't recall saying that. I think if everything but putting ingredients together is done by a machine it kind of takes some of the fun out of it...
Got shave ice for the first time this summer. I asked for kiwi and POG, and for some reason the kiwi syrup was red... it tasted fine though.
We did some fireworks at the house. I have pictures and stuff that I can show you when I get back.
An ambulance and a fire engine came towards the house and we stopped. I guess the neighbor's mother was ill and they took her away in a stretcher. Out of respect for them we didn't light any more of the things we had.
I should go to the beach soon.
This is kind of relevant to the Shoutbox conversation I'm having right now.
How I surf:
First, get on Nutang to start
Monthly Top 10
Nutang's Top 10
Forums - random topics to see if there are any updates
And this is all in about a minute or two, depending on if anything new is up. Then the cycle repeats.
It's a little obsessive-sounding but I have a crappy memory so sometimes I start to respond to comments and completely forget what to respond to, so I end up going back and forth. You get the idea. And I just go back and forth in general so I don't miss... anything. Not that it would matter, I guess.

(From eatliver.com, it's linked in the sidebar.)
I'm watching pickles being made in Good Eats and now I want one, really really want one.
Of course I also still want that Papa John's pizza.
Oh, cravings. :|
That reminds me of the latest Girly shirt (as far as I know...)
He just made deep fried pickles...
I WANT ONE OF THOSE.
.... Kool-Aid pickes...?
Welcome to the US, melting pot extraordinaire

My mom was hungry when we were shopping earlier, and we went into a sushi place.
First thing she said? "Bacon and egg?"
Then I looked at the sign and realized it was a type of sushi she'd just referenced. I also noticed the picture of the BLT sushi.
Yup... and yet, somehow I don't doubt that this could also actually be in Japan. They have all sorts of crazy food over there...
On a separate note, I had an overpriced kiwi smoothie that was pretty good.
And they have spinach and garlic pizza at the Papa John's here. :0 No fair, seriously. I would kill to have that at home...
Oh yeah, and my mom said I had to look at the Hawaii Pacific University campus while we were here. :| That statement really made me less... enthusiastic... about our stay here. Bleh...
While I'm here I have to try that pizza. :0
