You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

Casey and I went to a show last night. It was actually a bunch of short films with an intermission in between, in which a band played. Another band played after the films were done.

It was pretty entertaining, and I would go again. We decided to go rather last minute; it was about six and we wanted to do something, so we surfed around on the internet, trying to see what looked good. My first suggestion was that we find an oxygen bar, but that didn't really work out. We ended up checking out the sites of a few venues we'd been to before, and the Music Hall of Williamsburg had a screening put on by The Film Shop.

I didn't take any pictures/video during the films themselves, but I did take some shots of the bands that played, along with a few video clips.

First though....

I made the mistake of going back and getting Butt Naked.

We're really mature college students.

Oh no

Kinda crappy picture of Hank & Cupcakes.

All the hipsters around me had huge fancy cameras that my little Kodak couldn't compete with. X|

Lightssssss.

This is... Emmanuel and the Fear, I believe?

They're an eleven person orchestra rock band.

During their first song there was a flute solo.

I was kinda thirsty on the way back, so we stopped into an interesting convenience store to see what they had. I got a ginger beer and a sangria soda.

The sangria did not have a twist off cap, and we did not have a bottle opener, so getting it open was very tricky. After struggling with it for quite a while, I managed to open it with Casey's mailbox key.

I escaped with no injuries... she, however, was not so lucky.

She was actually dripping blood everywhere, which freaked me out. The edges of the bottle cap were pretty sharp...

-Sigh- I probably have... homework or something... that needs to be done. :/

The magic of 99 cent stores
Saturday, February 27, 2010
When we go out, we have to take a bus to get to the subway. Where we get off the bus, there's a "99 cent" store. In truth, it's far from that. It's more like a "random cheap crap" store.

Anyway, these kinds of stores typically have interesting products in them, should you care to look.

Take, for example, these "athletics shirts".....

For the low, low price of $12.99 (suggested retail), you can get three of these fine... "athletics" shirts. I'm sure their model can tell you all about the athletic things he does in them, such as beating his wife.

They had giant Oreo cookies with... no creme filling. Which is kind of the point of Oreos, if I remember correctly.

Some interesting perfumes at the counter.

Apparently the marijuana one really does smell like marijuana. Who'd have thought? (Something to think about: who wants to go around smelling like pot?)

After our trip we went back to the store, just because we had to find out what the "pussy" perfume smelled like. We are... someone relieved, somewhat disappointed to report that it does not smell like pussy. It had a rather floral scent, actually...

There was also a "Butt Naked" one that smelled pretty good, but I would feel so awkward buying anything that was named that.

Since I've been trying to stay out of my room as much as possible, I've just been hanging out in Casey's for long periods of time. We made tea, and I tried to read my tea leaves, very unsuccessfully.

I'm going to guess it's because I was using a tea bag, and also because I don't know how to read tea leaves.

Yesterday Mister Boyfriend called me just as we were getting back to school... and he said I sounded happy, which made him happy. I guess he does notice that I don't usually sound very cheerful, but doesn't bring it up.

Of course, when he called me back later, I sounded kind of down again I suppose.

Eh well. It happens.

---Edit---

I hate the bathroom walls here. Every bathroom should be twenty feet underground and soundproof. I don't want to hear people doing their business.

McDonalds fetish clowns
Monday, February 22, 2010
I dreamt that I was riding in a car through the desert with my parents, my brother, my grandma, and DC.

On the side of the road were three clowns. The first was Ronald McDonald, in his typical yellow, red, and white attire. The second was similar, but his hair was shorter, he had a slight grimace on his face, and he was wearing black leather suspenders and crotchless chaps on top of yellow underwear.

The third was completely bald and a pasty white. He looked mean. his clothes, though yellow and red, were dingy and old looking. He was fat with a big red clown nose, and he held a black whip.

As we passed them I tried to take a picture with my camera, but it didn't work.

We stopped at a massive rock, which we were going to hike on. The path was nearly vertical, and I didn't want to go up. Slightly ahead of us, the three clowns began to ascend. The middle one had acquired a walking stick somehow, and none of them had to struggle to climb. They just walked right up. I took a few steps and slid back down.

My dad said something about being careful with my grandma, and then we were at a dark, museum like place. It was like the Smithsonian equivalent of a funeral home. The walls were a dark indigo-black, and there was a small black table with a grey marble surface on which a black vase of yellow flowers rested.

The rest of my family was waiting in a room for church to start, but I didn't want to attend so I wandered the empty building. I saw DC standing by himself in the middle of a room, untouched by the shadows. He was wearing a blue shirt and no hat, and just looked at me in silence.

Then I woke up.

---

My cartooning prof asked me if I'd considered publishing any of my comics in the school paper. I said no. He suggested I try.

This is like when people tell me I really ought to think about pursuing writing as a career. I never want to do any of the things I'm supposedly good at.

Or maybe I just want to preserve these things as something I enjoy. As soon as I am obligated to do something I start to lose interest in it.

My School Days strips went on for a while, but eventually it began to feel like homework. And since I've had depression I just can't imagine picking something like that up again.

I've been told constantly that I'm bright and I have potential (which honestly seems like a very generic thing to be told), but I think that I am probably doomed to be a failure.

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY

Everyday is a happy day. So happy. So very happy. You must not deny this. You cannot deny this. You will not deny this. If you do there will be consequences.

Casey's ceiling is no longer blank and unhappy. I happified it.

Also I bought some more applesauce and diced pears at Target yesterday.
