I just found out today that my school will be closing next christmas due to low enrollment. I thought we were doing GREAT but I guess not. I think I will need to double up on my classes now so that I can graduate before my campus closes.

Ichiro Suzuki (鈴木 一朗, Suzuki Ichirō?), often known simply as Ichiro (イチロー, Ichirō?), is the center fielder for the Seattle Mariners Major League Baseball team. He was born October 22, 1973, in Toyoyama, Nishikasugai, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

Ichiro moved to the United States in 2001 after playing for nine years for the Orix Blue Wave in Japan's Pacific League. When the Blue Wave posted him after the 2000 season, Ichiro's rights were won by Seattle and he signed a contract with the Mariners. He became the first Japanese-born everyday position player in the Major Leagues. Ichiro did not miss a beat in his transition. He immediately established himself as one of the premier players in the American Major Leagues, matching or even surpassing his accomplished career in Japan.

2004 was his most impressive offensive season yet, as he set several MLB records, including a new all-time, single-season Major League record with 262 hits. Ichiro, equipped with one of the strongest and most accurate throwing arms in the league, is recognized as one of the best defensive outfielders in baseball. He has won a Gold Glove award in each of his first six years in the majors, all six as a right fielder.

Suzuki is the first MLB player to join The Golden Players Club.

Broccoli, Tomatoes Slow Prostate Cancer

A little more lush green and bright red on your dinner plate may make all the difference in the world when it comes to prostate health. According to a new University of Illinois study, eating tomatoes together with broccoli can slow the growth of existing prostate tumors, as well as cut the risk of being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Researchers found that men who followed a diet including 1.5 cups of broccoli and 2.5 cups of tomatoes, at least three days a week, experienced a 30% lower risk of prostate cancer than men who ate less of the two antioxidant-rich foods. A supplementary study of lab mice found that compounds in broccoli and tomatoes can significantly slow the growth of prostate tumor cells.






What This Means for You
While consuming tomatoes or broccoli alone has been shown to cut cancer risk, the current study highlighted the synergy of the two whole foods in combination.

I have not done anything with my kids in a long time. Money has been tight therefore we did not do much over the christmas holiday. More like we did nothing at all over the holiday. This monday is Presidents day and I plan to take them to the California Science Center. They currently have a Star Wars exhibit running and they also have an IMAX theatre. It is a great science center with educational tours. I am really looking forward to it!

Have you ever had someone of the same sex hit on you? My student worker was sharing her experience. She was in the womans shower locker room. She walked into the athletes shower room and walked in on two girls kissing. She totally freaked out!
