Barren Illusion
"If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality. Perhaps the facts most astounding and most real are never communicated by man to man. The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched." - Henry David Thoreau

Quiero dinero

So I bought it, peeled off the plastic wrap, slid it out of its plastic slipcover, unfolded each cardboard section one by one, and took the seven discs out and stuck them in my slim jewel cases. First, it's fucking long. It must be like two feet in length unfurled. Second, well, there isn't a second, I guess I can say again: IT'S FUCKING LONG. It's just I've never bought any DVD set with more than four discs.

I saw the first two seconds of the pilot on DVD today (the screen just saying LOST), at this rate I'll be done when I'm about 105.79-years-old, excluding the bonus materials. My antennae suck so I almost danced the samba when I saw the clarity in that four-letter word, "LOST".

Who will win the war for the new format, BD or HD-DVD, where it's feasible an entire TV season can be stored on one disc? Imagine owning the entire X-Files series on 9 discs! Talk about storage! At least, conveniently, it will still be a disc and not some kind of tiny chip or a brain implant. Okay, bye.

Drive Me Crazy
lunes, 19 de junio, 2006
I remember watching this in the theatre. Not bad for teen-movie fare, and definitely not a bad disc for $3.50. (Plus, it's got the trailer[s] with the "lost" footage of Chase rolling a tire down the hallway that, at the time, no one except myself and my friend remembered from the TV commercials!) It's got a gimmick, or several (dating someone to make someone else jealous, dressing up a guy to suit your needs, falling for your next-door neighbor) but what doesn't? It was written by Rob Thomas and I can definitely see parallels between this and his later work(s), especially in the dialogue. My only true gripe is that Nicole's mom and Chase's dad also got together, which is all kinds of squicky. Talk about incestuous. And the song that closes on this revelation is... "Wig-Wam Bam." Catchy song, but... ew.

"Wam Bam Bam / Gonna get you if I can!"

More stuff
martes, 18 de octubre, 2005
Ugh, I want so much stuff, I'm disgusted with myself, but here it goes again:

I was going to get the Veronica Mars soundtrack on the release day, but it was too expensive so I am patiently biding my time...

Then there's stuff that don't even have images yet, including the Shakira - Oral Fixation CD (I must be stuck back in the 20th century!), and The Simpsons 7th Season.

Sin City - Recut & Extended Edition: Haha, I knew not buying that bare-bones release back in August was a good idea. Suck on that, everyone else who bought it then!

I don't remember the last time I won anything. Oh wait, I remember: last year in MACY*S while I was on line to get the autographs of the Veronica Mars cast, they were giving away America's Next Top Model DVDs if you answered a Veronica Mars/pop culture question correctly, and I named all the members of the Backstreet Boys into a microphone and the whole floor heard me and I "won." TEAM CYCLE ONE, BITCHES!

Ooh, they have the Internet on computers now!
martes, 8 de mayo, 2007
I ordered some DVDs online last week, and though they said economy shipping (media mail) would take up to one month, I figured it was just a way to cover their asses in case someone on a military base ordered or something. In my experience, it takes about 7-14 days. It was one week yesterday, so I decided to go online to check my tracking number, but I coudn't.

If my internets hadn't broken down last night, I could've checked my package's tracking number online. If I could've checked my package's tracking number online, I would've known it had passed through New Jersey yesterday. If I had known it had passed through New Jersey yesterday, I wouldn't have mistaken the mailman knocking on my door this morning as the maintenance man (I was still in bed and my dad was supposed to be home -- eventually the man came an hour later). If I hadn't mistaken the mailman knocking on my door this morning as the maintenance man, I wouldn't have to go down to the post office tomorrow to pick up my package. If my internets had not broken down, I would be holding my DVDs right now. DAMN YOU, INTERNETS!

Women don't like being shot in the face
martes, 14 de agosto, 2007
I don't like titles. For me, it takes up too much time thinking up a good one so I almost always put something that has nothing to do with the entry, usually a quote, usually television (see: nearly blog I've ever had). It's more fun that way. It's like unwrapping a beautifully gift-wrapped present, with the finest-crafted paper and the curliest ribbon, only to get punched in the face.

My earphones are busted. Ugggggh. Another one bites the dust. This must be the seventh or eighth pair, I've lost count. With all the money I've spent on earphones, I could've saved up and gotten what I really wanted: headphones! The giant, cup-sized kind that covers up my big ears and causes me to ignore everything else around me and possibly cause some kind of accident. But I'd still have to buy earphones for easy storage when I'm out about the town. Really, I'd just want headphones for my computer, so maybe I will finally acquire a pair when I upgrade.

I have so much to do today: make a bank deposit, pick up package, buy Taxi Driver 2-disc special edition and earphones. No wait, that's not a lot to do at all. Mua haha! I love summers... when it's not sweltering. (Like today.)
