The Repair Post
1.22.08 at 10:57 am
It's awfully sad that I can do a repair post. Their really is that much stuff broken around here in need of repair.

The Car

Mom took the car in to get fixed on Sunday. I can't remember what part it was thought to be. But mom called Monday to see how it was going and they told her it was fixed and it wasn't what they thought. Turned out to be a broken hose going to the radiator. They fixed it and ta-da, the car is working again. It was only 1/6th of the cost of what it would have been if they were right about what they thought the problem might have been. As for the oil that goes into the radiator fluid, they told her that the leak could be anywhere and if it's only a small leak, she shouldn't worry about it right now.

Turns out the car my mom had borrowed from her friend was a standard. I don't know how to drive a standard. Mom was going to have to take me to and from work. She wasn't looking forward to it. So thankfully we got the car back and I was able to drive to work after all.

The Washer

I did my work laundry on Sunday. The washer didn't drain the water. I turned on a heater in there. The washer still didn't drain the water when set to do so. So we had a repair man come in [he just left] to check out that, and the dryer since that doesn't give off heat to dry clothes anymore. Well, the washer worked for him. That's right. Worked. He said that he thinks it froze. I told him I had the heater on in there in case that was the problem, he tried again and it still worked. He told me that all he can figure is that it froze. Or he's seen a couple cases where the hose that takes the away the water got a clog. But it seems to be working just fine now.

The Dryer

It is so old that he doesn't think parts are made for it anymore. I told him that it came with the place when we moved it, it's our landlords dryer. He said it's not even worth fixing, if he could get the parts, because it'd be too expensive. The berrings are going out amongst other things. And the no heat problem is because it needs a new gas intake valve. He said that alone could be around $150 - not including labor.

So in the end? $45 for labor... where nothing needed or could be fixed. He's a nice guy though, and he is good at what he does. Unfortunately labor is some expensive stuff to pay for. The car was $110 just for labor. I'm not complaining, though.

Know what's cheaper than a dryer? Hang drying everything all over the house. Looks like what we'll have to do from now on.

If you want to read about my shopping adventures, feel free to go here. It's wayyy too much to retype and I have to get some online work done before I can get offline. My goal is to find the time to write a letter to one of my penpals.

Sorry It's Been So Long
1.14.08 at 9:35 pm
Hay, I never intended to be gone so long. I've just been so busy. Between work, and my work from home and my mom being home for a week, I didn't have time to stop by here. The photo to the left is a picture of the birthday cupcake mom bought for Aubree. It's Elmo! Aubree is pretty obsessed over elmo. So she loved her cake. Although that frosting reminded me of a liquid marker. Anything the frosting touched turned that thing red. I have a red spot on my pants, Aubree was dyed red for a day. Even I had red fingers from eating one of the cupcakes as well. It was whipped cream frosting too, delicious. The best frosting.

Beyond that, mom's car is in bad shape right now. Their's something wrong with it. At first we thought it was the thermostat. So we got it fixed. Didn't work. So their is another option, the radiator. The sensor in that could be going, which would explain the problem as well. Mom made an appointment to have it fixed on Thursday. That's not the only problem the car has, though. The head gasket seals are leaking oil into the radiator which makes the radiator fluid black. That needs fixed too. Long story short, never buy from Superior Auto.

And work, I worked on Saturday. It's not my usual day but my friend really couldn't work that day so I filled in for her. I really didn't want to, but I do like money and that's an extra 2.5 hours for my paycheck next week.

Tonight while I was working my boss let me know that he'll be slowly teaching me new things that I'll need to know so that when summer comes I will be able to help out on register among other things, and get more hours. Right now they close at 9:30, sometimes 9. Well in the summer they don't close until 11. So that will give me 1 1/2 extra hours each shift. I am flattered that they want me to learn how to use the register because the person whose job I took over, they never wanted to teach her how. I am happy to know that they trust me enough to run register and like me. It also means they do want to keep me around. That's always good too.

I have to get around some wahm and cruise news stuff to post elsewhere so I need to go. I'll come back around here the next time I have more time. Take care everyone!

Happy New Year!
1.1.08 at 12:47 pm

Happy New Year! I hope you all got to enjoy yourselves while ringing in the new year!

I ended up not having to work last night which was perfectly fine with me. But now I'll have to work on Friday which kind of sucks. I still work tonight though.

So I didn't do anything special last night. I watched the ball drop on NBC and spent most of my night not being able to sleep because Aubree refused to sleep. She woke up when I was going to bed. Then she laid on my bed playing. She was awake when my mom got up this morning. She did not go back to sleep until after mom left and we slept until 10 this morning.

And we brought in the new year with a new snow storm as you can see from the photo. Click the photo if you'd like to see my other flickr photos. I took 4 photos of the nature I can see out of my front door.

Thanks to the snow, though, I get to go out and shovel before mom gets home. The snow is getting deep and it's getting deep fast.

I've got some work to do today, so I need to get going. I'll be back soon to write more. Probably to complain about work. Because I can. Heh. Take care and I hope 2008 is a great year for everyone!

Since I Last Wrote...
12.29.07 at 9:01 pm
... christmas came and went, I went after christmas sale shopping, I cried at work out of frustration, and almost quit.

As soon as my flickr page decides to load, I'm going to get a photo added to this entry.

I got a few things during the after christmas sales. On the 26th I got a make up set that was marked 1/2 off. So it was down to under $10 for this huge makeup kit. I liked the eye shadows they had in it. They have some neat color combinations. Today I went to the store and I picked up some christmas stationary that was still only 1/2 off and some shiny silver wrapping paper. I figured because it didn't have anything holiday specific on it, I could use it year round.

Wednesday at work my boss approached me and told me I need to work on getting faster. I told him I have been doing my best and going as fast as I can possibly go. Then he went on to tell me about how great the woman before me was and how she came in an half hour later than me and had no problem getting everything done by 9:30. I told him I understood and I doing my best. It was a little later when I started to cry.

It's very frustrating. I work my butt off. I do the best I can and I try to go as fast as humanly possible. Yet he had the nerve to compare me to a woman who wouldn't even show up to work. She wouldn't even bother to call in. She just stopped showing up. So I ended up being called in because she couldn't manage to show up to her job, but she is soooo great.

At least I'm reliable!

It made me very angry and I am still angry. I talked to my friend who got me the job about it, and she told me what he told her. I think she was surprised I didn't quit. But I told her that although I almost did quit, I decided not to because I want to keep the job. I like the job, even though my boss and his brother have really hurt my feelings and made me mad. The boss wants her to come in one night while I work and show me how to do everything because according to him I was trained "all wrong" and I'm doing everything completely wrong. And he said I'm too much of a perfectionist. Heather asked me about that, and I told her that I try to make sure things her perfect because I am sick of being told I'm doing everything wrong. The last thing I need is to be told I am not doing something good enough. It's one thing to be corrected, it's another to be told I'm doing a sloppy job.

Last night I went to freeheadset.org, and I ordered a free headset for my phone. It only cost me $4.74 shipping. You can even get a bluetooth headset at discount of you don't already own one. If you need a headset for your phone I recommend them so far. Of course I haven't gotten my headset yet, but I've heard about them on Rachael Ray and it was all good stuff I heard. I'll definitely mention it here when I receive it. The headset shown is the one I've selected to receive. That was one of 3 options I had for the Kyocera Marbl. The phone shown isn't the one I have, though. Mine is black. But that's the type of phone I have.

Let me see, I don't think their is anything else worth talking about so I'm going to end this here. I hope everyone has a great new year and I'll be back to write again as soon as I have time.

The Rebirth Of The Glasses
12.24.07 at 9:58 pm
I've got a little good news, and a lot of good news. Lets start with the little:

I was able to use mom's industrial strength craft glue to glue the arm back on my glasses. Good thing, too, because I'm around $30 short of what I need to get new glasses, new lenses and a new eye exam.

I was talking to the lady at walmart and she was telling me that because the prescription for my eyes has expired [2 years old is the oldest they can accept] I will have to get a new eye exam. I found frames for only $18 that look alright. And the lenses will cost me $35 approximately. The most expensive thing will be the eye exam which costs $55.

Now for the great news, I got my MP3 player in the mail. I already got my favorite songs off a couple CDs on there as well as a couple MP3s I found online uploaded to it. It's great, and it works very well. I am very happy with my investment.

And to go along with the great news, I got the package I was expecting from a friend of mine. She gave me stationary with matching envelopes and she gave Aubree a stuffed monkey which is so cute. I was very excited to get her package.

And work, I'm very thrilled about that. I got done a half hour earlier that I was! That's so exciting. I'm getting better at my job! Yay!

I hope everyone enjoys the holidays tomorrow! If you don't celebrate christmas and your holiday has already past, I hope it was great!

Stat-tastic
12.23.07 at 11:39 pm
To amuse myself I decided to take a peek at the most popular members page and the most active nutangers collage. I was a bit surprised that I made the top 25 most popular at number 19. That was pretty nifty. And it turns out I'm not far off from most active since my icon is in 17th place there.

Something not so exciting happened to me today. My dear little daughter smacked me in the face which sent my glasses flying from my face. In short, the arm of my glasses broke right off, and I don't have insurance. Which means I'm going to have to pay an arm and an leg to get a new pair. Why? Because I'm basically blind without my glasses! I'm still very mad, and even threatened to repo the christmas presents I got her to go towards a new pair of glasses. But of course I won't. I'm just very, very pissed.

Tomorrow I get my first paycheck, and I'm going to take that and see if I can buy a new pair of frames that are the same as these, and just have the lenses put in the new frames. If that's not possible, I'm picking up the prescription for my lenses and going to walmart for cheapo glasses.

This leaves me with an old pair of glasses that I can wear, but they give me a migraine because the prescription is weaker than what I'm used to. I do think that if I have to buy a whole new pair of glasses, lenses and all, I'll buy super glue and try to super glue the arm to my glasses. Oh wait, mom has that cement like glue I can try out tonight.

Anyway, on to better news. I ordered an MP3 player off overstock.com a week ago and it should be showing up tomorrow. I can't wait to get it. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew I'd need a new pair of glasses, though. But anyway, mp3/mp4 player. Yay. I paid $40 for it, and got free shipping. If you want to see it, go here. It's the white one. When I bought it, the black wasn't in stock. Otherwise I would have gotten that one.

Have a great night everyone. I'll see you around when I have time!
