Album of the decade?
Rating: 5/5
In a sea of mediocrity, Muse has come to show us that rock is alive and well. While previous Muse releases were also excellent- namely, Absolution and Origin of Symmetry- they both suffered from some weak tracks pockmarked in between the great ones.

Black Holes and Revelations, however, is almost perfect; it's brash, witty, and gloriously over-the-top. The band flawlessly imbues pop, classical, metal, disco, salsa, electronic, and opera into one grand, sensational album.

Musically, this is easily the band's best album, and one that puts most other bands to shame. Thanks to Matt Bellamy's virtuoso musicianship and incredible operatic vocals, Muse's ingenuity outshines many of today's hardest-rocking bands.

Get it.

Keane meets Radiohead
Rating: 4/5
If you like hard driving percussion, distorted guitar, and piano all in one, then this is the album for you. Actually, Black Holes and Revelations is rather varied in its pace, vocal qualities, and use of instruments. There is certainly the sound of Radiohead, Coldplay, and The Killers mixed in with the likes of Keane and Snow Patrol. When this musical era is classified in the future, Muse will likely be in this mix.

Two representative tunes from Black Holes and Revelations that are worth the listen to test the waters are Starlight and Map of the Problematique. This is a very good album, but like usual, I reserve 5 stars for the extraordinary (e.g., Throwing Copper from Live).

Overall This is a Great Album
Rating: 5/5
This is Muse's fourth album release and I have always loved their music. They haven't achieved great commercial success, but are popular in the more underground/indie scene, which fits them nicely. Their last release was in 2003 titled Absolution and was a great album. This album opens with singer/frontman Matt Bellamy screaming in a strong way "You will burn in hell for your sins/You must pay for your crimes against the earth" mixed over the electronic/pop/indie style that if you're a previous fan than you still will be.

If this is your first time hearing their material, than hopefully it'll win you over. They have perfected writing great indie/progressive rock with a pop sense. "Starlight" is a type of love song (don't worry it's not in a cheesy way) and "Supermassive Black Hole" is an interesting mix of heavy, disco, booty shaker style. Muse is influenced by a variety of different bands, one being Queen, which you can hear in some of the songs. The songs here are deep, political and overall great.
