If you love Weezer, like I do, you'll like Rooney...who's like a watered-down pop-leaning copy of Weezer. I like this album, gave 4 or 5 listening sessions and haven't had the urge to "pop" it out again. Maybe I'll give it another chance. Get Your Rooney In Gear

If you don't own this self titled album you should kick yourself in the rooney. Put together by a group of cute boys with the oldest being about 18 years old, this is not a teen boy band by any means. This is real rock and roll and real talent.
You may have seen them on the OC, but ignore that. You may even recognize the lead singer as an actor in "Princess Diaries" and one of the Coppola offsprings - ignore that too. Instead just listen to the influences on the album, from the Beach Boys (I'm not kidding) to Robbie Williams (okay I am kidding).. this isn't your teenage sisters music, this is your cool older Aunt's music and it rocks.

I tried to give Rooney a try with both of their CDs and I just didn't like them. The lyrics were lame, out of order, and the transitions were off. They tried to give it a pop-emo feel but they missed. This CD will likely find play time with OC-fans, but other than that, don't waste your time. There's better stuff out there and I would expect better from fellow Californians. Great music for all ages

From babyboomers to kids, all ages and backgrounds would definitely enjoy the sound of Rooney. Their image, like brought back from the seventies reminds me of great rock bands like AC DC, Lynard Skynard, The Stones and The Beatles with an ultra hip, modern sound and the appeal of bands like Aerosmith, with that Californian Beach Boys' touch in their melody. Sure everyone would enjoy themselves in a nice beach weather with Rooney playing on their radio. catchy uninventive indie pop

Let me start by saying that iam a huge fan of indie pop and bought this cd from just hearing about them from friends(all girls by the way). After listening to the disc a couple of times, i cant believe this band is so popular, what makes them so appealing? What i can say is that the disc is very catchy and all the songs are really radio friendly, which is why it wouldnt surprise me to see this band on mtv and maybe signing a new record deal, nothing on this album sounds new and fresh , its all been done before. i give the cd 3 stars because its not a bad effort its an album that has recieved alot of hype and praise and it all just seems too exaggerated. maybe its the O.C. |
