Jon?

Kinda like the Energizer bunny
Wednesday. 12.12.12 7:31 pm

Five months, huh? Thats a long fucking time, Jon, Ashley says while adjusting her seatbelt. I mean, youre probably a completely different person from when you left Texas back in July.

Its kind of funny now that I think about it, but that casual observation never donned on me through it all. Leaving Harvard Law School wasnt a tough decision particularly since I knew Id only be gone a semester. I initially figured Id enthusiastically join the Obama campaign, move to Iowa, eat some corn, read a lot of books and uncover just who the fuck Im supposed to be through epiphany after epiphany. Surprisingly, the only part of that prediction that turned out to be true was the last part.

Thousands of miles, Hundreds of people, Eleven states (plus D.C.), ten buses, six months, two betrayals, and one lesson learned. Over the next few months, I plan to touch on all of em. So, lets start with that one lesson:

Prior to living out my childhood fantasy of becoming Rurouni Jonathan, I lived in Charlottesville, Virginia with a man named Anslem. Upon being told I left my position with the Obama campaign because my bosslady gave me the ultimatum of either campaigingn in churches or resigning, he asked for the key to his house back. The free housing was only guaranteed to Obama staffers and I no longer fit that description.

Theres no animosity between he and I. In fact, I can honestly say I love the dude. We saw the world in different lights, but he gave me the best piece of advice anyone ever has.

Look, Jonathan, he says, stepping away from our hug. No matter how tough it gets, no matter what youre going through and youll be going through some shit til you find your away, just know that I respect your decision. I nod my head, and turn to leave his home. Before I make it out the door, he told me something that will stick with me til the day that I die.

The thing about life is that it keeps going, Anslem says to me from his front porch. Whatever happens to you next, with that girl youre about to go see and in life in general know that life goes on. And so should you.

Dude, your scrollbar is tripping me out.

And hey, epiphanies! High five! That's much better than eating corn in Iowa.

As far as my boyfriend is concerned... we've sorta mildly discussed the idea before. I'm definitely not ready for something like that yet, but he seems pretty sure he wants it to happen eventually, so... -shrug- I guess we'll see what happens. There's still a lot of time between now and whenever he decides to go that route, I think, so stuff could change between now and then. No way to know!

Roanoke IS boring as fuck. Holy shit.

Yeah, churches in that area are either likely very very very Probama or anti. I can't really see there being a good inbetween.

Ryc: haiku is a short poem that describes that very moment only seen by the person who writes it, n the written work is supposed to let readers to feel n imagine the situation the maker had.
