Valentine subject
Saturday, February 7, 2009
This is absolutely not related to Valentine subject which I wanted to post earlier but somehow I thought it would be interesting to share a piece of my mind about love subject since Valentine day is just around the corner, and since Valentine always symbolises LOVE between girl and boy.

A friend of mine angered me many years ago when we were still students. She was older than me and she was a masters student who I get along well. Among all the Malaysian students on my campus, she is the second person I mixed the most. We discussed things freely and usually we do so with other Malaysian students but I particularly remember one topic, which was about partners. Because she was the second oldest in my batch, we know she has a boyfriend [who is now her husband] and she asked us if we have boyfriends/ girlfriends and so on.

We were in her room when we had this discussion but I don't particularly remember who was in the room as me other than she, he, she and unidenditified person. She showed a picture of her bf and we all went Ooh. And she spilled out more about how they met and he was her first and last love and bla bla. Maybe she knew why we went ooh instead of ahh, she defended him saying 'Usually guys like him get pretty/ cute girlfriends.' Because the people in the room know I don't wish to have a partner, she suddenly said to me "I would like to see your boyfriend one day."

Stunned. I asked why.

"Because I have been noticing that many lengchai [good looking guys in Cantonese] have not so beautiful girlfriends."

And I think some of the people in the room added that they have seen kakkuii [gorgeous in Japanese] with plump sized girls and such. And I have witnessed that myself too many a time.

I thought it was weird. "So? You know I won't have boyfriend or partner. So I don't think you would ever get to see. Even if I have one, he has to be LENGCHAI."

She just laughed to herself. I thanked her for saying me cute but not about getting a not lengchai guy as bf. I was offended.

What do you mean by pretty girls can't get good looking husband? It's not the law of nature. We are not discussing some Darwinian theory.

Ugh. Never mind. I have a printed photo of Itachi [ a deceased character from Naruto manga] next to my pillow. I'm going to apply the Law of Attraction.

Ugh.

Pretty girls CAN get good looking husbands though many pretty girls ARE NOT with good looking guys. Lol! Law of Attraction.. I'm yet to read the book.

Btw, I know the hints are that Itachi is dead but the odds of him reviving are quite high.

"Because I have been noticing that many lengchai [good looking guys in Cantonese] have not so beautiful girlfriends."

Getting a leng chai or leng lui as life partner may be good, but you'll have to worry every time whether he or she cheats on you. So better to get someone not too handsome or pretty but passable : )

Lengchai? I like that word! I want to use it from now on... it sounds like what it means.

I noticed that many girls like to date a boy who is uglier than them. It makes them feel safe and superior. But I think that can't be love...

How is Lengchai pronounced? Ok so that's besides the point. Everyone knew that while I said looks didn't matter, I have always only been attracted to men who looked a certain way. Pretty boys or well defined guys. XD Good looking guys cheat no more then anyone else if the relationship is a solid one.

The gourd is a really small one. It wouldn't even make a good sized snack. :/

hmm... i guess it's all about fate on who you'd be with, whether he's average-looking or good-looking or whatsoever. (:

the world is fair! haha...anyway i do agree that it's fate that brings two people together to live under the same roof, till death do them apart.

let it be handsome or beautiful, it is still the inner that matters the most. one can look dazzling but has rotten personalities. with a charming smile they hide their ugliness inside, deceive you until it is too late. that would be the most dangerous person of all. :)

haha, happy valentine. Single life is still the best!....lengchai or not, I think that appearance at the end is not really that important becoz as time goes by, v tend to grow old...so, find a person who will love and cherish no matter how u look or how he looks....

I know often we would see couples who don't look physically compatible with each other. Either the girl is too good looking and the partner is not or the guy is too good looking and the girl is not.

Nowadays, I don't think people define a successful relationship through beauty anyways. Although, I have to admit, in my case, I'd not put "physical appearance" aside 100%. I mean,I'd want someone I can look and feel like smiling and go "aaahhh" instead of someone that makes me wanna run to the nearest toilet bowl.

Haa.. Maybe your "friend" said that because you guys did that "ooh" instead of "ahh". She saw the need to justify herself for getting a good looking guy thus attacking you silently as well, just to make you question yourself.

In other words, probably there's jealousy there.. You must be gorgeous.. *^_~*

Honestly, I think it's easier for pretty girls to get handsome guys because they already have the advantage of catching a guy's eye. The only problem is, most girls who KNOW they're pretty are quite stuck up and most guys who KNOW they are handsome just can't be bothered to go that extra mile to woo these girls..
