Speak to My Finger
Books
Books I have completed reading since January 2021:

1. The Enchanted - Rene Denfield
Scholarship entry
Monday, October 15, 2007
Haha. Did the title misinterpret something of me? Yes it is.

It is not me who's trying to obtain a scholarship this year, it's my sister who is cracking her head what to write for her scholarship entry. The question is pretty simple. If I'm not mistaken, the question simply ask what is the subject you wanted to study ... why do you want... how relevant and write records of your leadership skills. That is the question printed the Chevening Scholarship entry form. And my sister is now trying to write in a few hours and submit it within tonight ... Oopps.. I don't think she did.

She has drafted her answer and I checked it. But to be frank I don't have the confidence that hers will attract the judges attention. It just lacks passion and determination of getting the scholarship. The judges never met its candidates before and the only way to pass on their message is through the scholarship entry. Imagine there would be thousands of entries ... and tonnes of answers swimming in the pool of selection. I told my sis directly why hers won't be selected and she is of course upset but it's better to hear the truth now then rejected isn't it?

She could try her luck but what's the point if your entry doesn't even have an everlasting impression on the judges. Ok .. we have all seen realities shows like Runway Project. How did the finalists get through? Same thing. The judges look at your design and pieces.

I'm not sure what did my other collegmates wrote for their scholarship entries but mine gave such an impact to one of the judges that she commented that she has never read an entry like mine before. I don't remember what she said because that was like 5 years ago... I only remembered my mum and sis looking at me with a small O when the female prof/judge commented that. Haha... I need to ask my friends what they wrote in their scholarship entry too...

I don't think it's hard to get a scholarship not because I got one before but because I'm a damn optimistic person. For me, if I want to get a scholarship, I need to be true to myself of why I want to get this scholarship and how can I contribute what I studied to my daily life. Answering those questions would also be my pledge of why I want to study the following course. And I still remember mine before I take my degree.

I just gave some of my ideas to my sister on rewriting the entry. And she was surprised that my head worked fast to link up the connections of why she should get the scholarship and her contributions should she get it.

Oh well I will salute her if she got shortlisted by writing her entry in 30 minutes while mine took one month to draft.

Nothing is impossible!

I have no clue if it's a western thing or not. I think that half of the time, if you properly cover the pan, then you don't worry about cleaning it. When I have my own place, I'm going to clean the pans, no matter what. Since the pans here are already rather icky, then the most I can do is keep them from getting ickier... I don't have any super-chemicals to clean them with, so it's much easier to cover them with foil and wipe them down every now and then.

Since my stuff will be new, then I will try to keep it as shiny as possible.
