A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness." ~ D.H. Lawrence "Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?" "Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost." ~ Seneca "People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect." ~ Daydream Nation "All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death." ~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes "The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road." ~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita "It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." ~ William Blake Think about it Musicalities! We were too wasteful, too reckless, too in-denial until it was too late. My mom told me that we had to leave San Jose, that they were ordering everyone to leave, because of what was going to happen. We could never come back. We would have to drive down to live in Los Angeles, because they were still holding out there, at least for a little while. We had to be gone by 2:30 PM. There was no time to take everything, and anyway there wasn't space. I hurried around the kitchen, trying to grab foods and spices to throw into a bag, then went to my room to pack my most important possessions. I looked at all my things and thought about how they would probably be taken or destroyed by looters. My neighborhood, which had been safe and quiet my whole life, would fall into disrepair and decrepitude after being abandoned. And then I saw my birds, and I knew they were more important than my stuff, even if I'd never be able to replace my things. I needed to find a cage I could transport them in, since their normal one is too big... Frantic searching, dread, feeling the sense of impending doom, leaving almost everything behind, knowing we were only delaying the inevitable. And in the dream I made a friend And knew I would never see him again And that just made it worse. Recommended by 1 Member 4 Comments. TWO THINGS CAME TO MIND A) Wall-e. This dream future of yours sounds similar to Wall-e in the sense that our wasteful nature has led to the destruction of our planet.. which I think is a very real possibility. A teacher of mine used to say that future generations will look back at our generation and those preceeding us with disgust and bewilderment with the way we've treated our planet.. a planet they will inhabit on its last legs. The other thought was of the japanese internment camps and how asian-americans faced an actual event similar to what you wrote about.. » undisputed on 2013-05-29 10:48:09 This kind of makes me think of the book I'm reading called Zoo by James Patterson. An immanent end is coming and there's nothing can be done about it. Crazy how all the stories can one day become reality. » LostSoul13 on 2013-05-29 11:57:13 :'| You have the most vivid dreams. I very rarely remember any of mine. » invisible on 2013-05-30 01:23:06 I read a book once where there were a bunch of twisted demon/zombie creatures who used to be human who were attacking the remaining human settlements in California. There were a bunch of people in Oakland and people in LA, all holed up in sports stadiums which they were using as fortresses. Anyway, eventually the creatures attacked the fortification in LA and all of the women and children had to sneak out an underground tunnel and make for the wilderness. » Zanzibar on 2013-05-31 04:27:12
