You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

Nothing of importance, I don't think
Thursday, November 19, 2009
I gotta remember not to buy Skittles anymore... even without the gelatin in them, they're still made by Mars. Plus the bag I got recently had a lot of flat ones. X| And... this.

I forget what this flavor was. Peach mango or something, I think.

This is my mini sewing machine that I have yet to use. I can't figure out how to get the bobbin with the yellow thread off...

I realize that this is a small picture, so it might be hard to see what it is. These are the bathroom doors in one of the buildings here. The men's one says "MEN" and the women's one just has the typical female restroom symbol.

It's just funny to me because it's like they're saying women can't read. :P

Hm... yesterday was a pretty decent day, I think. At dinner there was a mariachi band because it was a double swipe night, I'm assuming. (We get two meals maximum a day, and you have to use a meal swipe for each meal, but for double swipe nights if you use both meal swipes for dinner you can get something special.)

So... I believe they called it "Fiesta Steak Night" or something to that effect. In addition to the mariachi band, which amused me greatly, they were giving out sombreros to the double swipers and there was a little pinata strung up from the ceiling. No candy inside though, I've been informed.

The food was also surprisingly good. Usually the veggies/fruits here are deplorable, but they quite decent broccoli out. It was all green and lovely. :D (I've had less than pleasant encounters with the broccoli in the past...)

Today the food was.... alright. I ate more than I should've. They had spinach and cheese quesadillas out, so I took a bunch because.... I could. X| (When they put out good or decent food it's always tempting to take a lot because you don't know when it's going to happen again) There was also baked ziti pizza and uhh.... the normal fare.

Since we have Thanksgiving break next week starting on Wednesday, they're serving a Thanksgiving dinner tonight... or so they say. Hopefully it won't be disappointing... but in any case I feel like I ought not to eat that much since I had such a big lunch... :|

Wikipedia amuses me today. Firefox red-squiggled "quesadilla", so I Googled it to make sure I wasn't spelling it wrong, and in the process the link to the Wiki article happened to fall under my cursor... so naturally I clicked it.

It sounds very stern about the distinction between different types of quesadillas...

CLICKIES

Of course, Wikipedia is subject to change, so this is what it says:

"The Salvadoran quesadilla is not like a Mexican quesadilla. A Salvadoran quesadilla is a type of bread."

So uppity! :0 ("Don't you DARE confuse the Salvadoran quesadilla with the Mexican one. It's a BREAD.")

I don't buy Skittles anymore because they stopped producing the flavour that I like.

about the men's bathroom; it's probably just because they figure that guys are too dumb to understand a symbol.
