You're unsure if I am a loose end or a strand
that waits for you to mend or understand
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

Ah ah ah ah stayin' alive...
Tuesday, January 13, 2009
Disco. :D (Also I am currently stayin' alive, as you may have noticed)

Well you can tell by the way I use my walk
I'm a woman's man, no time to talk

Something something something I can't understand them

Ah ah ah ah stayin' alive!

I like how that one guy looks less enthusiastic. Maybe it's because he's the Bee Gee without lots of hair.

Today in Brit Lit Brandon started asking Julia if she was Russian. She said no, she was Ukrainian. Then she asked him why, and he started going on about how she's "the only one of her kind." So she (jokingly) took this as a racist statement. She said "my kind?" And then we talked about how white people are the minority here and stuff...

I had a crush on Brandon in second grade. (He's asian, by the way) Now I just find him to be rather annoying. He doesn't do the work we're supposed to do, and he copies off my paper when he needs answers. I mean, I don't let him cheat during tests or anything (as far as I know?) but it's like, worksheet stuff when we're having a group discussion.

Why he doesn't just participate in the discussion and write down his own answers, I don't know. No wait, I do: he's too busy doing his math homework and texting.

Bleh.

[I'm still watching ze disco videos]

Echhh... not finding this hairy-chest open-jacket thing too appealing.

So as I was telling Varsha earlier, it's kind of mildy funny if someone keeps saying "no" over and over, but it's hilarious if someone keeps saying "yes" over and over.

Varsha: -something-
Me: Ah, I see.
Varsha: -something else-
Me: Yes?
Varsha: Yes.
Me: Yes!
Varsha: YES!

-We both start laughing-

Me: Why was that funny?

Note to self: add this to comic material.

:P

---Edit---

This video makes me laugh.

But only because I saw this one first.

As a freshman I constantly heard people make reference to the whirlpool machine. So I imagined it was some amazing machine that you sat in and it felt good.

I later found out the whirlpool machine is just a vat-like machine that uses some propulsion system to spin the water around, technically whirling it. And it didn't feel good either, the water was prickling.

I prefer what my imagination came up with.

Copying homework is so common. Sometimes I wonder why some people can copy other's homework and yet do well in exams.

When you divide the population into "White" and "non-White," then it's true that whites in San Jose are "in the minority." But when you break down what we normally consider "minorities" into other ethnic groups, then whites still are the plurality in San Jose, with 47% of the population being white (as of 2000).
