So much
Sunday. 2.5.12 11:54 pm
All sorts of fun stuff going on in my life right now. Some of it is literal fun, some of it is other kinds of awesome, and some is really just deeply upsetting. But man, it's all distracting. Meanwhile I can barely keep my eyes open (I slept SO well last night! What gives?) and I have a test and possibly also a quiz tomorrow to study for.

The Super Bowl was pretty disappointing when it came to commercials. Very good game, though! I didn't care, and I was still pretty entranced by the end. But now I'm covered in lint from this guy's carpet.

Nothing is working out the way I wanted. Again, this is a mixed bag; some of the things I wanted weren't so great, so I'm grateful that I'm being vetoed. Very grateful. But other aspects of my life that were supposed to be SO simple have turned into complete garbage and I cannot get any slack.

Oh well. The moon looked nice. I'm off to tackle this again. 'til next time.

EDIT:
Also, lol what's Valentine's Day

Yeah, I started out writing about how distortions in the crystal field lead to overlapping orbitals and how this leads to characteristic absorptions which are affected by heat... and then I decided that you were probably one of the only ones who would follow what I was saying so I ought to broaden my target audience. But you shouldn't be *de*pressed by how much you already knew, you should be *im*pressed. ;) Eventually you'll be writing long-winded scientific Nutang entries that even I can't understand. :D

As for The Golden Compass, I have read it, and I don't remember it being obnoxious. I remember liking it. I was reading it while I was trekking around Iceland, so I felt very connected to the "Great Polar North" aspects of it. Plus it was very 'steampunk'. But because of the ending I couldn't work up the energy to read the second one. Why, have you read it? Did you see the movie? Everyone kept talking about how anti-church it was, but at least in the first one it seemed more "anti-establishment" than "anti-church".

Ah, innnnteresting. I was wondering how they could have a "church" that tried to separate people from their "souls" and have that be anti-church. I thought that they were trying to separate the "logos" child from the "supernatural" soul-animal in order to create a better human being (forgetting, as C.S. Lewis said, that "you don't have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.") So are the animal souls what the evil guys are after? Or are they after the children without the souls? Which side is supposed to be evil? Sounds like it gets much weirder after I stopped reading. ::SPOILER ALERT::

... I couldn't keep reading after they killed her friend. He was the character I most liked and I thought she wasn't upset enough after they killed him. The movie I thought was ok but it seemed really rushed because they had to fit a lot in. Monkeys creep me out so I thought that the monkey was good. In the movie the character that annoyed me most was Lyra's animal soul-person, but only because of the voice. Lyra I found a little annoying, but I managed to read all of Twilight, so clearly I'm not too bothered by things like that. I was moved by the image of the little boy with the rat soul freezing to death in the tiny shack. Maybe I'll refrain from reading the rest in order to keep my version of the story intact in my head. ;)

haha, don't worry, you didn't ruin it. I'll have to make my novel into a response to the Golden Compass being a response to the Chronicles of Narnia. ;)
