Well, I've already given you MY views on why I think that gay marriage is freaky, but here's what the Bible says about homosexual sex:

Leviticus 18:22->

ESV: (English Standard Version): "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is abomination."

KJV: (King James Version): "Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination".

LB: (Living Bible): "Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an enormous sin"

Net Bible: "You must not have sexual intercourse with a male as one has sexual intercourse with a woman; it is a detestable act."

NIV: (New International Version) "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."

NLT: (New Living Translation): "Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin."

RSV: (Revised Standard Version): "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination."

Homosexuality can mean being gay, or having gay sex. Either way, it appears guys should stay away from guys.

Besides, think about it. Look at the way the human anatomy works. See any patterns? Sheesh.

Ah, but it doesn't say anything about two WOMEN being together. Just another piece of evidence that only men wrote the Bible....

As an agnostic I generally don't take the Bible as being a reliable source of information. But if it works for you, whatever.

By the way, I don't recall hearing about a commandment that states " Thou shalt not have sexual intercourse with people of the same gender as thee"....

Bible Schmible
Meh. The Bible. Honestly, I can't take it as a serious source of information. People have the right to not believe in it, just as they have the right not to believe in God.

The way I see, let em if they want, just don't go running through the streets with a big "just married" sign. Some of us might not be so keen on watching.
» The-Muffin-Man on 2006-11-12 09:46:15

No, they didn't teach me that it was okay. They avoid the subject so they don't have to say how uncomfortable it makes them feel. Which is why I love supporting homosexuality. >:)
» randomjunk on 2006-11-12 09:51:48

Well it's not completely out of spite. I uh... kind of have a thing for guys kissing. Heh. But ANYWAY....

Being agnostic means that I'm not completely athiest(non religion, god does not exist), but I'm not christian(or other religions) either. In between. See, my entire family as far as I know is christian. I was raised christian. I go to church even though I'd rather not. Because of this, it has been printed in my mind from an early age that God probably does exist, but I prefer not to believe that. So I'm kind of indecisive, so to speak. Like, there could be one, but I'm not sure.
» randomjunk on 2006-11-12 10:01:23

I have an extremely rebellious nature... so I'm not into my family's religion. I don't realy think about it, like "is there a god?" "If there isn't a god how did this world come to exist?" I spend my time doing other, more interesting activities. The subject of religion really just doesn't interest me.
» randomjunk on 2006-11-12 10:09:42

I also noticed there was no mention that it's bad for two women to sleep together. Then again we were property basically so eh... :) I won't go into what different Bibles say or religion, but I must say I'm not surprised that they all word it differently, some a lot more different then others.
» Katrina on 2006-11-12 10:13:06

No, I don't think about those things before I go to sleep. Sadly, I think about less important (or important in a different way) things. Like "will I have bedhead when I wake up?" or "I'm broke but I really want _____. How am I going to get it?"
» randomjunk on 2006-11-12 10:18:28

you are so beyond your years

you are welcome. you are cool and so are your thoughts you share here.
» pheebes4life on 2006-11-12 11:12:40

True, it does say that. However it does not say that loving another man is wrong. So if two guys love each other and don't have sex I guess the Bible is ok with it. It seems they just have a problem with two guys having sex, but if that's the case they don't say anything about guys not having that kind of sex with their wife. Hmmm...
» Katrina on 2006-11-12 11:36:21

I get sick to my stomach when I see PDA because seeing couples in love reminds me of a time I'd rather forget. Wrote about it in my entry.

About your entry... I agree 100% with you. Alot of people, for and against homosexuality dismiss the bible but its good to see you using it as a reference.
» Dilated on 2006-11-12 11:42:19

Homosexuality is natural, actually. Animals are sometimes born homosexual to naturally combat overpopulation. Then again we are also born, genetically programmed, to procreate and feel sexually aroused towards the opposite sex (also a sin
[lust, adultery in the heart, premarital sex, ect, ect], just like homosexuality is a sin). And wasn't it Jesus who said if we break one commandment, we break them all? We are all human, carnal, imperfect...
» DeeVeuS on 2006-11-12 11:47:43

Yes, the bible does say it's wrong. Hence I'm also against gay marriage. But I don't actively "follow" anymore because I realized (after studying psychologically and such) our minds are exactly like animal's minds. Same behaviours, same way of operating. Everything our DNA dictates us to do, everything required for survival is a sin (trust me, I've done my research). So I believe in a nonjudgemental existance. Nothing has meaning... everything just IS. People create their own meaning, their own beliefs which is why I respect all beliefs... not one is right or wrong, they just are.
» DeeVeuS on 2006-11-13 12:08:18

'Tis all good, my entries may be too long anyway.

...
If you don't know what I'm talking about no way in hell am I going to be the one to explain it to you. XD

Sex is wrong without love and a real commitment in a relationship. I've been with my "boyfriend", we're really husband and wife, for almost 8 years. I used to think the way you do as well until I realized that marriage is just a piece of paper that gives you some benefits. A real commitment is a thousand times more important then any marriage with none. Sex should never play a part of why you'd get married, but with your way of thinking it does since without marriage you aren't supposed to have sex.
» Katrina on 2006-11-13 04:00:55

Sorry, but that’s what the church tells you so you will wait until you get married to have sex. It sounds good when you first hear it, but think about this. When the Bible was written there was 1) a chance your daughter could be “Virgin Mary” and 2) fathers used their daughter to move up in society by basically buying/selling them. I grew up a Christian and going to church, Sunday school and bible groups. I grew up believing to wait until I was married as well.

I came to realize something though. If you cannot be two commited people who respect, treasure, adore, admire, help, love, cherish and are faithful without having a wedding then you have nothing. I am not saying we will never get married, but please explain the reasons why I should get married. So far the reasons seem to be so I’ll have an even stronger bond, but why is that? Why should getting married to someone who you should already have the above with make you even closer? Shouldn’t your bond with the person already be as strong as if you were married?
» Katrina on 2006-11-13 05:40:13

Somehow I fail to see how talking with you about "stuff" could cause me to fall in love with what he does after he sneezes. Or maybe it was the sneeze. I don't really know. Argh this is EXACTLY the type of thing I should be laughing at and calling stupid! >:(
