Ugh...
Sunday. 4.1.07 12:13 am
Today was eventful.

I left with my friend Melissa at about 10am to go get my photo magnets from Kiddie Kandids. They turned out fantastic! We ate at Panda Express and walked the mall for a while.

After that, it was to Babies R' Us and I got him a teething blanket (he likes to suck on his burp rag...so I figured this teething blanket might be a good thing since it's sort of like the burp rag)...Melissa got him some baseball outfits. They're cute...

Then, Melissa and I went bowling. It made me want to join a bowling league, but we'll have to see about that...it probably won't be anytime soon that I'll be doing that.

After that, we went to the scrapbook store and I got some scrapbook stuff. I'm making Gregory his own little scrapbook, so I had to get some stuff for it. After that, I went to Melissa's to actually scrapbook for a little while.

Before I went to Melissa's, I dropped Gregory off so I could be alone and uninterrupted while scrapbooking. Brian was there with him. I told him he could go out later with his friends since he'd be watching him for a while (to be honest, I've been out with Gregory all day and I got up with him all last night...so he really didn't need anything extra special to watch him for a few hours by himself).

At about 8:45, he calls me and asks me when I'm gonna be home because he's going to go out tonight and I told him to give me a call when he was going to leave and I would come home (Melissa lives about 2 minutes from my house). He calls me at 9:30 (I was in the parking lot at my apartment building) and tells me that they [his friends] are leaving right now, so me getting home was perfect timing.

Figuring that he'd leave when I walked in, it was fine. No, he sits around until 10pm before he leaves. He makes it sound like he's in a huge hurry to leave by calling me at 9:30 and then he sits there until 10! I was like "I thought you were leaving" and he gets all snappy with me telling me that he was burning a CD. I didn't know he was burning a CD...so I get my head ripped off for that?

I think he was just upset me with me because I got in an argument with him about babysitters. He thinks by leaving Gregory with someone we know will make him be safer than leaving him with a stranger. He's true in some respects, but...let's say, for example, that our son is at a babysitter (Brian's parents house, their friend from work, a stranger, etc.) and he is eating something and starts to choke. Do you think he would have the same likelihood of choking to death that he would at home or with someone else that we know or a complete stranger? Yes...

He wanted to argue with me about that and he's used to me just letting him win when he's wrong, but I set him in his place. He is no safer at home than he would be at someone else's house. Granted, his parents will probably keep a better tab on him, but seriously...babies die of SIDS at home and away from home regardless of how loving and watching the people are that are taking care of them. It sucks and it's sad, but seriously...

I'm just so irritated right now. I was in a good mood until that...sometimes I wish he'd just leave me alone sometimes.

I'm sorry that your good day went bad all of the sudden. I am proud of you that you stuck up for yourself and didn't let him win this time. You should do that more often. As for the babysitting...that is totally up to the two of you. I have no right to offer an opinion...especially since I don't have children. I just have kitties! I really hope that your night isn't ruined. You're an amazing person!

I don't know what SIDS is, but I think you're right. I mean, as long as you know that the babysitter isn't a psychotic child killer or anything, it's probably fine...

I hate when I start out writing an entry all happy, but then start ranting about something and I end up being pissed off. At least the first part of your day was good.

I agree with you...
Those things can unfortunately happen under anyone's supervision and as long as the "stranger" is carefully checked and has atleast some references then you don't have to worry about him being injured/harmed on purpose. Once that is ruled out and you know that the caretaker will watch them with the utmost care and that your child's safety is their top priority then they could be as good as "loved ones" watching them. And I wouldn't be sure about leaving him around your drunken "father-in-law" hahaha

No matter if it's a stranger or someone you know, accidents will stll happen.. though I think you should go with the one you feel more comfortable with.. And Brian shouldn't have done that.. You should have your time out with your friends too.

Glad you put him in his place! Men deserve that sometimes.. I've got a bunch of scrapbooking stuff, but never got round to doing it.. and my daughter is 6 today.. LOL!
