I´ve just returned form 3 day´s worth of bus-time, after going to a city 1900 km away (in road distance) to see my fiancee. After 12 years in the rather smallish Malaysia, where each state is a day away, I forgot just how big a Brazil can be.



To make matters worse, I went on this trip on an impulse, with no previous planning, straight after classes i simply left and took the midnight bus from the city to where I teach to Goiania (red trajectory), then seeing there was no bus to the city of Cuiaba I sat down and watched some Will Smith flick on golf, then dicovered and took a 4 am bus to Barra do Garças (blue), which is in the way. Only problem is that the recent rains
have destroyed the bridge to the city, so it was an hour´s worth of walking to the bus station, 5pm I´m on a bus to Cuiaba (orange), then after an hour´s worth of some Brit marriage movie (The name was something like "the Bride´s feast"), followed by a bus to the town where she stays, Barra do Bugres.

It feels good to walk again.
