Coding and Computing
Thursday. 2.28.13 12:11 pm

When I first saw this movie on facebook, I thought "Zuckerberg..." But it is actually a really good video that kind of backs up all the things that I have been thinking recently. I don't know how to freaking code and it's the one thing holding me back from being a 'computer person'. Now, I'm not saying that I don't know how to write in HTML and CSS and a little JAVA and if I looked at it long enough, I couldn't open up PHP and make a few careful edits to steal an automatic mailing form. So, I guess you could say that I can code, I'm just not very good at it.

Just in the same way that I am perfectly able to test a headset, but sometimes I miss the fact that it isn't plugged in. Or that I don't miss the fact that the headset was unplugged in the first place because it was... broken. I know how to turn off a computer and turn it back on. I know how to read DOS command codes well enough to follow some simple instructions, but I don't "know" it, and that is what's frustrating, because these guys are right. Computing is the closest thing that we have to today to super powers. We can make apps, websites, games, whatever, and all we need to know is to be patient. So why can't I- Ooo! Squirrel!

::3 hours later::

That said, I wish I had some kind of mentor to help me figure this stuff out. I've been doing a little research on X-code (the programing language for apps that is much like python *apparently*) and it is only available for mac... but I have a PC *great*. I could try programming things for droid, I guess... or learning python, but after watching all my friends spend hours upon hours making tic-tac-toe games for their computing classes... well either they're stupid or programming is freaking hard. Anyway... of I go try and figure out how to code.
