Grammer?

Hey I been wondering. My dad is on to me to make sure I always check my blogs and anything I right for proper spelling and grammar. I tell him nobody cares online as long as it makes sense and is readable. What does everyone think?

I mean, it irks me when things are misspelled and the grammar and syntax aren't all correct, but if that doesn't completely prevent me from comprehending what's being said, then in the end it's more or less okay. (Although it does hurt my brain.)

Your dad reads your blog?

I agree with your dad.

Grammar and spelling are important to me when I read a blog. It frustrates me when people don't take the time to read over what they wrote. It's not just your voice that comes across when you speak through a blog, but your intelligence as well. If you can't take 30 seconds to go over your grammar it can make a blog, and its writer, seem lazy.

I don't think you're lazy but your grammar has, on occasion, bothered me. Although, typos do happen and you really can't fault a person for that.

Part of it for me is that I had to take a bunch of journalism classes and learn how to proofread, so now I can't really help myself.

hmm... i prefer not to have any spelling mistakes and grammar errors on blog but in forum.. it's alright with its abbreaviations.

I think grammar and spelling is very important, particularly if you want people to believe that what you are telling them is credible. Bloggers don't have copy-editors so nobody faults you for a mistake here or there, but like Chloefoxx says, a blog with bad grammar and spelling makes the blogger look lazy, careless, or ignorant.

Plus, it is best to practice how you play!

Having thought about it a little more, I think it also makes a difference depending on who your audience is. If you're writing only for yourself, then you should be able to write however you want. One should write with poor grammar and spelling if the alternative is not to write at all.
