People tell me not to wallow in self-pity. That other people out there have it worse than I do. You shouldn't complain about the things you don't have, but rather be happy and grateful for the things you DO have.
I'm sorry, but if I'm having a bad day and you come up to me telling me you have it worse than me, even if you explain your story and do IN FACT have it worse than me, I will be sympathetic towards you, but I WILL NOT feel sorry for you. OR feel better about myself.
I probably sound like a bitch. But I just get really annoyed when I'm in a really bad mood, and it's not a time when I want the truth. It's a time when I need comforting. You think that telling me that other people have it worse than me is going to make me feel any better? NO. In fact, I'm going to feel shitty, ON TOP OF feeling bad for all the others who DO have it worse.
Some people just have bad moments or days. I am damn grateful for everything and everyone I have in my life. All. The. Damn. Time. I may not show it all the time, I may take advantage of a lot of the things I have, but I KNOW I have it better than others. And I don't need ANYONE to remind me of that.
Wouldn't you agree?
