Obligatory end of the year post.

This year ... was a year.

Next year, it will also be a year.

I've been avoiding most of the end of year lists, I don't feel like hearing anymore about shit going down back in April. I haven't read the paper for the past two days, because they started going on about it. It gets very old very quickly.

Maybe something interesting will happen this year, though I doubt it. This year will be like last year will be like the year before will be like the year before. The sun sets, the sun rises, and things more or less stay the same.

Good stuff, this year-end/year-begin business.

This year marked another year closer to dying, and so will the next. :P

How profound.

I'd have to agree with your post. I don't expect '08 to be terribly different than '07. but who knows

Who knows if the world would just stop turning tomorrow? I guess hoping that the new year would be different than the old year makes one feel a little better?

somebody told me there's new year every year to celebrate. hahaha.

only it's not every year you get a psycho-gunman running around your school.
that should count for something.

It's strange, the way we mark the passing of a year... especially considering that different cultures celebrate the new year at different times. When I take over the world, everyone will celebrate it on the winter solstice.

I agree with Dave... this was a very profound post. I also agree with you about year end retrospectives -- where they seem to recount each and every tragedy with pornographically loving care. Oh! Remember that? When a bunch of people died... that sure was sad. And then they have the list of all the important people who died over the last year... it's depressing, which is why I generally avoid watching television -- specifically news programs as they seem to center in on the world's latest tragedy and beat it like the world's largest, deadest horse.
