Leap Of Faith
Monday, August 18, 2008
I started my first day at Coach today. It was mostly filled with boxes and putting away things, but I got to go home at 4:15, which meant I could have more time to get to my vocal lesson, which was badly needed since traffic was really bad. The song I have to learn this week? How Deep Is Your Love? by The Beegees. I also talked to my teacher about my future in music. She said to follow my heart and do what makes me happy. I already knew this, but having her in my corner really solidified it for me. So...

I'm leaving George Brown and becoming a musician full time.

My parents support me, but they won't be supporting me money wise as much. I'll have to start paying little rent increments, my own transportation (which I was going to pay for anyway), and I'm going to have to start budgeting for reals, but I've never felt this good about something in my life. Gerontology would of been a means to an end for me anyway. I know that I would end up doing music for a living, so why not start now and get my name out there?

Expect to see more creativity coming soon. Time to head to bed so I can get up early to get to Coach tomorrow. We're going to be training with the product. Purses ahoy!

Wow. I hope the aftereffects of your decision are positive.

hahaha.. actually gerontology would just earn u lots of money ... coz i think many people r now becoming more conscious of aging? i'm only 22 but i'm taking anti-ageing products. and my sister client who is an anti-ageing expert has one of the kings of malaysia coming to see her every now and then.

but so what? if ur heart is all set for singing.. just go ahead!!

the songs i have to learn for this week is colbie cailat and kelly clarkson.

I LOVE that song!
And the BeeGees do it so well.

It's awesome that you've come to such an assure decision. I'm horrible at making decisions, because they are usually not so very decided - something can and almost always does come up. So often, I'm very undecided and unsure of what I really want. That's why it's been so hard for me to decide what I want to study in school.

Hopefully I should have SOMEthing figured out by the time I'm done with my associate's degree in general studies. ^_^

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR MUSIC!!! It's all so exciting! :D

Do what you love.
I'm happy for you, that you've decided to go all in for something you really want to do. I know so many people who choose their careers based on how much job security/financial success it will bring them--which isn't in itself a bad thing. But a lot of these people ultimately aren't happy with themselves or with what they do.

My mom used to be a little bitter that I didn't choose to enter the medical profession like she did (she's a nurse and has always kinda wanted me to go to medical school), but I think she sees now that my passion for the science, and not the healthcare, behind biomedicine will translate into something far greater than a six-figure salary somewhere down the line.

Ah, the Bee Gees. I'm a sucker for How Deep Is Your Love? because my parents used to listen to it all the time when I was little. It also happens to be one of my favorite songs to dance the rumba to.

I will be
How Deep Is Your Love is pretty fantastic. But it's difficult to hit the note in the line "and it's me you need to show" without sounding too wimpy or too eager.

At least you'll have a general studies degree. It's a step in the right direction towards something.

Thank you for the well wishes!

R: Thanks. I hope that you've chosen a career that you love as well. It would be a waste not to chase a dream over money... but sometimes life needs money and the dream has to wait. I'm sure your amazing talent in biomedicine will garner you accomplishments and a fantastic salary soon. How many people can say that they worked for NASA?

You can dance the rumba? To that song? Is it sped up or something?

You can dance the rumba in the normal tempo...
Well, I've only ever danced International Latin Rumba, which breaks on count 2. That might work with the song a bit better than trying to break on 1.
