Barren Illusion
"If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality. Perhaps the facts most astounding and most real are never communicated by man to man. The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched." - Henry David Thoreau

Xin nián kuà lè, Sun neen fai lok! Wow, year 4702 already... time flies. Maybe it should be the year of the baboon? But if it's gonna be so specific it might as well be year of the lemur, or capuchin, or orangutan. Ahehehehe... uhm ::shrugs:: anyhow, almost $200 this year, mua hahaha. It adds up over the years! I should never get married and get money every year! Bwa hahahaha!!!! Hm, I must be really drunk or something... or incredibly insane. I should hurry up and finish The Battle for New York before the library fines add up to too much. I should probably go to sleep on time instead of at 3 or 4. I'm gonna have to reorient myself anyway... vacation's over. Boohoo...
P.S. The NYPL's acronyms LEO (Library Entrance Online), CATNYP (Catalog of The New York Public Library), and PAWS (Public Access Web System)? Genius! (The well-known "library lions" are named Patience and Fortitude.)

NJ

Really off-topic: I went into New Jersey earlier this week! Oh-ho... anyway, nothing much, just checking out Newport Centre Mall to go to a certain store so I could utilize my dumb card. I've just realized I never spent too long in Jersey. I used to go to the mall and watch movies at a ridiculously cheap price (cheap compared to New York's 10 dollars, anyway). It costs 3 dollars for a round trip (used to be two...) on the PATH train, so total, it would be about $9. Plus, the mall's huge and I could always find something, and NJ has lower tax (six, but it used to be three!). In Manhattan, it would be $13 if I went on the subway... of course, now it's 4 dollars for a round trip. Inflation is confusing. Well, then it wasn't really convenient to go anymore after 9/11... because the station was hundreds of feet below WTC, and I live fairly close to it. Anyhow, I didn't find what I wanted and went home sad and in the rain (well, misty drizzle).

Wow money's still comin' in. Just got $100 yesterday; this year is probably the record: about $465. (I lost count. Plus I spent a Jackson or something.)

Bought John Mayer for $2.99, and Eminem and Jay-Z for $10.99 each. Also I'm seeing a new serial, but I keep missing the English title!!!!!!!!!! It's fairly interesting. Plus one of the main character's name sounds like pork bone (joo gawt).

Edit: Oh-ho! So it's called Strike At Heart, see, and it's about a clique, hear? Only it's a martial arts clique, see...

Those Were the Days

Remember when you were younger and you could eat whatever you wanted, as much as you wanted? Now I can't even finish a rice box on all my lonesome. Oh well. Lunch and dinner for $3. (Though not daily. I mean, that would be suicidal. )

THEN I DEFY YOU, STARS!
domingo, 15 de enero, 2006
Entertainment Weekly has repeatedly over the years sent me renewal notices to "lock in" my guaranteed low renewal rates, which comes out to seventy-nine cents an issue for fifty-six issues. However, I am currently under their "plan" for forty issues at a time for $20, which comes out to fifty cents each. Does EW take me for a fool? Do they think I can't solve math equations? Why save 77.42857143% when I am currently saving 85.71428571% ?? Does Bea Arthur have to choke a bitch?

It's a three-day celebration, it still counts

Happy Lunar New Year! But what will happen when the moon finally escapes the clutches of our gravitational pull and the Earth spins faster than Superman can do anything about it, speeding up time and ruining our calendars as we know it??

I think this year had the nicest-looking envelopes I ever received (pardon my phone of crappiness):

Sumin shiny, son

I usually throw them away after a few months, but I'm going to keep these for posterity or until they get wrinkly and turn to dust.

I was reading an old entry; how the hell did I get $465 last year??? Curious, indeed....
