"If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality. Perhaps the facts most astounding and most real are never communicated by man to man. The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched." - Henry David Thoreau

| viernes, 23 de enero, 2004 Xin nián kuà lè, Sun neen fai lok! Wow, year 4702 already... time flies. Maybe it should be the year of the baboon? But if it's gonna be so specific it might as well be year of the lemur, or capuchin, or orangutan. Ahehehehe... uhm ::shrugs:: anyhow, almost $200 this year, mua hahaha. It adds up over the years! I should never get married and get money every year! Bwa hahahaha!!!! Hm, I must be really drunk or something... or incredibly insane. I should hurry up and finish The Battle for New York before the library fines add up to too much. I should probably go to sleep on time instead of at 3 or 4. I'm gonna have to reorient myself anyway... vacation's over. Boohoo...
P.S. The NYPL's acronyms LEO (Library Entrance Online), CATNYP ( Catalog of The New York Public Library), and PAWS (Public Access Web System)? Genius! (The well-known " library lions" are named Patience and Fortitude.)

Bought John Mayer for $2.99, and Eminem and Jay-Z for $10.99 each. Also I'm seeing a new serial, but I keep missing the English title!!!!!!!!!! It's fairly interesting. Plus one of the main character's name sounds like pork bone (joo gawt).
Edit: Oh-ho! So it's called Strike At Heart, see, and it's about a clique, hear? Only it's a martial arts clique, see... 22:07 Comment! But what will happen when the moon finally escapes the clutches of our gravitational pull and the Earth spins faster than Superman can do anything about it, speeding up time and ruining our calendars as we know it??
I think this year had the nicest-looking envelopes I ever received (pardon my phone of crappiness):
Sumin shiny, son
I usually throw them away after a few months, but I'm going to keep these for posterity or until they get wrinkly and turn to dust.
I was reading an old entry; how the hell did I get $465 last year??? Curious, indeed....

Moooooooooooo. I know that's a cow and it's the year of the ox, but whatever.
I made the "fook" (or "fu") by cutting out the character from one of those free calendars they give out at the end of 2008 if you buy above a certain amount in the store, pasted it on a piece of heavy red paper, and voila! A unique, non-garish item that cost nearly nothing. Example of garish CNY items I don't like: signs that are 3-D, glittery, with weird, fat chibi-like human or anthropomorphic animals all at the same time. Like, cutesy, but not to me. It's kind of hard to know what I'm talking about if you never saw one, but oh, I really don't like them. I wish that I had remembered my camera so I could take a picture of some examples.

In retrospect, buying a laptop (no matter how busted it was [and is]) definitely slowed down the progress of getting my computer back. A few weeks ago I was finally getting reeeeeeeeally tired of the limited capacity and resources my current laptop provides, and so I finally got around to trying to back up the rest of my files and stuff. Now to partition the HD and finally install Linux (my original plan two years ago).
I better go soon, I MUST wash my raggedy hair tonight, for I can't do it tomorrow. (It's Chinese New Year time!)
P.S. Monaaaaaaaaaaaaay
