I feel so neurotic right now.
I bought a MacBook Pro about two weeks ago (the so-called 'low-end' version) because it was on sale for $1599 at the bookstore on campus. However, I can't help but feel a little uneasy because for an extra 5 benjamins I could have gotten the 2.4 with twice as much vram; Honestly, I don't think I would ever need to drive a 30' monitor along with the laptop, nor do I see myself running GPU intensive applications like Motion or Maya, yet I just feel like since I was already making a small investment I might as well have put my funds into the higher-end model?
Maybe I just wanted to future-proof my investment a bit more, or maybe I'm just ridiculous. The higher-end MPB was on sale for $2099 with the purchase of AppleCare which would make it out to be about $2200 with taxes. I bought the one I have now for about $1700. I have a friend who still uses a Powerbook G4 from his 1st year in college because it suits him just fine. But I can't compare apples to oranges (no pun intended).
I don't know. Sometimes I just rock my world with absurd and oftentimes unnecessary excess baggage in the form of mental constructs and verbal obstacles when I know the MPB I just procured is definitely more than enough for what I will be using it for in the coming years to come (the occasional Doom 3, Quake 4, Sims 2, Photoshop, iMovie, and maybe Final Cut).
Whatever Marc, build a bridge and get over it. Seriously.
