You Gotta Respect It: Young Jeezy and Ludacris are the Real Deal
Thursday. 11.2.06 9:53 am
A lot of people have been trashing ATL for the snap music heatwave that lasted for *snap* this long, and that vulgar Reckless character has done his best to ravage, demolish, and denounce whatever credibilty the South has ever had. But the snap sub-genre, despite its popularity and airwave control, has never really sold that many records. If you think about it, D4L struggled to hit 400K after months of release, and Dem Franchize Boys just barely topped gold before they fell off the charts and failed to make a return in the sales department even after their third single was released.
Changing lanes...
Now, if you look at Luda's past album sales and his current Soundscan takeover, T.I's digits, Jeezy's last album selling 1.5 mill, and his upcoming sophomore LP building more buzz than "Soul Survivor," its easy to differentiate their style of rap music, which has more of a real feel to it; the better the quality, the better the sales. Outkast, Gnarls Barkley -- this is what I call real music. It's different, and it's sometimes off the meter when measuring the realms of what hip-hop music should be, but these people are pushing units. Whether they're wearing diapers (not a good look) or white wigs, they're giving the people what they want: Real music.
Just a thought. Like them or not, you gotta respect it. This is why the South is on top. And in the name of these artists, it is a well-deserved title. That other bull sh*t I can't really co-sign.
And by the way, you would never guess who this is. Let's just say that in my blog, nothing is ever censored.
Shout out to SOHH Southern.

I have been a Luda fan since his first album. I buy every single album that drops on the day it drops. I am from New Jersey and most of my friends listen to southern rappers before we even fuck with East Coast/NYC rappers.
Jeezy album was refreshing and his style is hot. His album was fire and I cant wait til the next one.
Many reasons can attribute to why the south is "runnin' thangs" right now, but the main reason is the South is putting out great music. HANDS DOWN!
I keep telling people, STOP SLEEPING ON LUDACRIS!!! lyrically, the man is a problem. And when you can dish out club bangers at the same time, you got a bonafide superstar.
