So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

He's come to visit. Naturally our furnace took the opportunity to break, and naturally the last two days have been the coldest it's been this entire winter. Thalweg made him a birthday cake that looks like a bicycle! Quite grand. Our very own brilliant and charming french climate modeler colleague Francois has been here for the last couple of days... he described radiative transfer to me in about 15 minutes. We decided that he and his equally charming student Jean-Baptiste should travel a circuit reinspiring worn out graduate students everywhere with their contagious enthusiam. I also went crazy and bought a bunch of DVDs since they were on sale: Rambo: First Blood Total Recall Clue and Milo and Otis Hopefully the weather will improve so T & G can have a fun weekend riding bicycles. As for me, I spent the evening cleaning the bathroom. Then I ate an entire can of baked beans for dinner. BECAUSE I CAN. For Valentine's Day I intend to eat a curried garlic onion chive dish with beans and lentils. BECAUSE I CAN. vive la france! 8 Comments. vive el texas! ( 'cause texas is masculine.) Anyway, your V-day plans sound so.. romantic? In San Antonio, we're having a 3 week Valentine/Women celebration thing. The Rape Crisis Center has been putting forth all of these shows and I worked a concert today where I sold bumperstickers that read " I am a vagina warrior!" » Dilated on 2008-02-09 01:22:26 And I thought of you » Dilated on 2008-02-09 01:22:31 Milo and Otis! I have that. » middaymoon on 2008-02-09 01:46:13 Shoot I haven't seen Milo and Otis in forever... Ah yes, I remember Thalweg. She was the one who skiied her face into the ground, if I remember correctly....good times. » The-Muffin-Man on 2008-02-09 02:09:29 Awesome! They were all on sale? The dish sounds good. You should take pictures. » jinyu on 2008-02-09 08:41:07 R:C I'll type it up for you one day. I still remember it vividly enough to tell the story. But telling that story will likely take me a long time to do. : » ranor on 2008-02-11 11:07:19 There was supposed to be a : at the end of that. » ranor on 2008-02-11 11:07:50 Ugh. Apparently, Nutang does not like backslash. So, a forward slash will have to suffice. :/ Unless that gets erased, too. » ranor on 2008-02-11 11:08:37
