So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

and everything was totally as it had been only that everyone in the world had disappeared... how much time would have to go by before you stopped locking your door? Recommended by 1 Member 8 Comments. Hmmm. Everyone in the world is a lot of people. How would you know everyone had disappeared? » randomjunk on 2006-12-10 10:47:37 ok... let's say that it seemed as if everyone in the world had disappeared.... but you could never be 100% sure; you just couldn't find anyone or any sign of anyone. » Zanzibar on 2006-12-10 10:56:29 Not gonna lie. It would freak me out too much for me to be "okay" with it at any point. Heck, not only would I always lock my door, I'd carry around any firearms I could find or other various weapons and sleep in some sort of bomb shelter or panic room. Odd part about this is that I had a friend whose house was never locked, sometimes even 100% ajar. This was mostly due to the fact that they were so poor, it was obvious that they wouldn't find anything of value. Also there were various types of weapons hanging from the walls in each room... I have odd friends. » elessar257 on 2006-12-10 11:02:13 i agree with elessar but if i managed to stay sane, i'd go about life as well as possible. that includes locking the doors. or, the front door at least. » middaymoon on 2006-12-10 11:22:01 I asked one of my friends and he dodged the question, saying "The real question would be, 'where would you go first?'" I asked my other friend and she answered more like I would, that she would lock her door 30 times, because whatever aliens had come to get the rest of mankind would certainly be returning. I myself was thinking more along the lines of subterranean-based clans of zombies. » Zanzibar on 2006-12-11 12:29:25 I'd probably continue locking my door... it's a habit. » ikimashokie on 2006-12-11 12:54:41 I don't know what I think it would be. All I know is that I'd probably try to go find others. I more than likely wasn't the ONLY one missed or spared... » elessar257 on 2006-12-11 01:29:20 i was encouraged to answer To answer the inital question - I would continue to lock my door. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment by myself and I still close all the doors to my bedroom. Open doors freak me out. However, First thing I would do is decide if I want to start looking for people or just settle. If I want to honestly go look for people I'd go to the nearest camping store and stock up. I mean, no commerce right? Tents, backpacks, lanterns, batteries, all the good stuff. Then head on out. If I wanted to settle down however, I would have to figure out alot. Plumbing, electricity, heat, all mondern conviences would be gone because the people who make these things possible would be gone. However (*guilty smile*) I would honestly be really intrigued to go into people's houses. I'd convince myself that it would be because I was looking for people - but I'm always intrigued by people's houses. Pictures, keepsakes, furniture, it's their personality (or a mismatch of several) in a physical manner. So....yea. :) » Helena on 2006-12-11 08:43:26
