I'm young, and I'm not insane (that's why I'm voting for Barack Obama)
Thursday. 10.23.08 3:36 am

That's pretty much my answer any time I get "polled" these days. And it's exactly how I feel whenever I watch the news. I really don't understand, at this point, with everything that's been said and done, how anyone can support McCain and Palin. Every time I see a new report or hear a new soundbite, every time I see an interview of a McCain supporter or I see one of their rallies, I can't help but wonder just what is going through these people's heads? Are they extremely gullible or are they just profoundly stupid?

One of the things that angers me the most about the McCain/Palin campaign is their ads. Barack Obama's ads, even the negative ones, are true, based on real things McCain/Palin have said/done, and have even used quotes directly from McCain's website. McCain's ads, on the other hand, are full of half-truths, scare tactics, out-of-context sound bites, and outright lies. It's disgraceful. And it's only gotten worse as it's become more obvious that Obama is going to win. Their campaign has gotten nasty, bitter, and let's face it... childish.

Here's an example of the ridiculous garbage McCain and Palin have been feeding to their flock.

They seem to want to connect Barack Obama to former anti-war radical Bill Ayers, who was a domestic terrorist in the 1960's. The man was involved with several bombings and violent protests. Pretty bad. BUT... here are the facts of his connection to Barack Obama. [Taken from wikipedia]

Bill Ayers and Barack Obama at one time lived in the same neighborhood in the city of Chicago, and both had worked on education reform in the state of Illinois. The two met "at a luncheon meeting about school reform."[43] Obama was named to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge Project Board of Directors to oversee the distribution of grants in Chicago. Later in 1995, Ayers hosted "a coffee" for "Mr. Obama's first run for office."[44] The two served on the board of a community anti-poverty group, the Woods Fund of Chicago, between 2000 and 2002, during which time the board met 12 times.[44] In April 2001, Ayers contributed $200 to Obama's re-election fund to the Illinois State Senate.[43] Since 2002, there has been little linking Obama and Ayers.[44] Obama said in September 2008 that he hadn't "seen him in a year-and-a-half."[45] In February 2008, Obama spokesman Bill Burton released a statement from the senator about the relationship between the two: "Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence. But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost forty years ago is ridiculous."[43] CNN's review of project records found nothing to suggest anything inappropriate in the non-profit projects in which the two men were involved.[46] Internal reviews by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time magazine, The Chicago Sun-Times, The New Yorker and The New Republic "have said that their reporting does not support the idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship".[47] William C. Ibershof, the lead federal prosecutor of the Weather Underground case noted, "I am amazed and outraged that Senator Barack Obama is being linked to William Ayerss terrorist activities 40 years ago when Mr. Obama was, as he has noted, just a child."[48][http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ayers]

These facts are not in question by the major media outlets. And yet the McCain campaign continues to feed their hate-filled propaganda to their followers at their rallies.

It's truly infuriating just how ridiculous their campaign has become. The only fact I find solace in is that by every indication Barack Obama is going to win by a decent margin. But it still makes me worry about the future of our country that there are just that many ignorant, gullible, easily guided people.

I totally agree with what you're going for here, but you really... can't use Wikipedia if you want to seem credible. It's just... not reliable, y'know?

Yeah, you know, it's a reasonable warning. Gotta watch out for all those rapists running around these days. :P
