Being as pale white as I am and knowing how quickly and badly I burn when exposed to the sun for any length of time, I should have known to wear sun screen. Did I? Of course not. With any luck, I've been burned enough to hold a tan for a month before it fades back to an indistinguishable, no evidence remaining, ghostly white.

This past weekend was the final weekend of the Seattle Seafair festivities and I decided to take part. A small part, but a part nonetheless. Jacob and I went to a pier that juts out in to Lake Washington, just north of Leschi Park, to watch the Blue Angels run through their practice show. It was a comfortable 70 something degree afternoon, with the sun blaring down directly from above {it was high noon} and here I am sitting on a pier out in the water without any kind of protection between my skin and the UV rays. I spent the next two days hiding from the sun. I'm still hiding from the sun, but I've had to work so I can only hide so much. It was necessary on Saturday and Sunday, however, because Seattle had record highs. Not exactly the kind of weather I need to be exposed to when burnt the way I was. I'm healing up some, but I've still got a little way to go.

I'm reading Fifty Shades of Grey right now. Bad idea ... It reminds me too much of Twilight, but with much, much, much more graphic details. I thoroughly enjoyed the Twilight books {I refuse to watch the movies} but this just seems off. I'm going to continue reading until I just can't take it any more. Then perhaps now that I'm reading again, I can start reading the books I've been needing to read; the ones I've had for nearly a year now and have yet to open.

It's hot in here right now. It was so nice this morning; cloudy with temps in the low 60s. Then the damned sun came out and it pushed temps in to the 80s. At least it's not as hot as it was yesterday or the day before. When you have no A/C, high temps like that are no bueno.

Let's see ... I am almost done with my summer quarter of school. There will be a month off before fall quarter begins. I still hate my job. Jacob and I are okay, but not okay. It's becoming more complicated again. I wish I had seen Muffy's performance on the Olympics, but I was unable to watch for reasons I can't remember. I watched the Mars Rover, Curiosity, land last night. That was a combination of boring and exciting all packed in to one. I'm broke as all hell. I need to start exercising again.

Yeah, I think that about sums it up.

I finished 50 Shades, all three, and I agree with you.. The explicitness will never end.

Seems like everyone on Nutang is reading this book.

It's been miserably hot in Portland too, OY, I don't know how to deal with it.

I'm scared to read Fifty Shades of Grey, I've seen some excerpts and it seems wayyyyy too explicit for me.

i just want to know how a book with a title as boring as "fifty shades of grey" can be so interesting to everyone. but i'm not going to read it.

i'm looking forward to the end of the terribly hot weather. i can't complain too much, because i have A/C, but i do have to empty my pockets for it.
