It's so different, but mostly for the better!
I wrote this yesterday and forgot to post it.
So my blogs are probably going to be about WoW until I hit 70. I've been playing pretty hardcore since I can't really play with my husband until I hit it. We've had a few server issues since I'm on Kel'Thuzad which is one of the first 30 pvp servers so it's highly populated. Right now he's been "power-leveling" me as much as time and WoW allows. I've found many things different from EverQuest, some annoying, but most of them for the better.
There is no power leveling. For how much time I've put into this game so far in EQ I could have had two level 70s and both pimped out with high end gear. I'm a fraking level 38!! That's right I've put in a ton of amount of time for level 38. People are surprised at how quickly I've leveled so I guess it's fast for a Paladin, but man...it feels soooo slooooow for me.
There's no "porting", Spirit of the Wolf, Spirit of the Eagle, etc. in this game. You're stuck running, flying on things that take their own "special" route instead of the straight line the flight master shows you or taking blimps. Blimps remind me of boats in EQ that were highly avoided, to the point people would pay large amounts of money to Wizards and Druids for a "port". I have to wait 2 more levels for a horse and I only have a 15% faster run speed since it's part of my talents.
On the bright side there isn't really "zoning" like there was in EQ. The only time that happens is when you go into instances or use the blimp to go from one continent to another. You would go into another part of a city in EQ and zone. Basically you listen to their zoning music, if you had it turned on, and looked at a picture for some time depending on your net connection. On the other hand, zoning saved me many of times when I had some mobs on me. I can't depend on them so I make sure not to bite off more then I can chew.
Questing is a huge part of the game and pretty fun too. I'm a huge packrat though so my bags keep getting filled with stuff since the quests always take place far away from a merchant. The quests make you explore parts of the zone you may not have if you were just experience grinding. They also give exp. and rep. which makes them more important in the game then the quests of EQ.
my friend introduced me a horror game called fatal frame. and she even gave me a link to watch other people playing sort of... and i remembered screaming in the office at one part. luckily there was no one in the office except me.
