Being sucked into WoW
Let's just say I was a bit pissed when I did my last "blog" which was more like a scream that I couldn't voice out loud. :)
So it seems my computer can handle WoW. Of course I can't do the nice graphics as well and stuff, but I can play and it doesn't lag except in a few spots which my husband who has a very nice comp says can happen. Since I'm doing their 10 day trial I'm forced to play a human Paladin since I can't be a Blood Elf like I wanted and I do NOT play ugly races. Which is also why I didn't start when my husband did since he picked Horde (the "baddies"). So right now I'm just learning my class and when it's over I'll buy an account and get pimped out by my husband (or twinked like it's normally called) and play on the server he's on. Right now he's playing with me and we're just taking the Paladin class for a test drive.
It's no EQ. It's new, very new. There's no attack hotkey. They replaced that with a right click of your mouse which I'm not used to. The attack hotkey was always the F button. If you want to auto follow you have to make your own marco for it, there isn't a short command. You have to fix your armor which does make sense and a bit more realistic, but also a bit more annoying all at the same time. XD
This is my first time playing a Paladin. I picked a cleric in EQ and honestly I should have been a Paladin, but clerics could res and that interested me. XD By luck I ended up picking the right race too, a high elf. I had two choices left to make. A wood elf bard since she wore a green bathing suit or a high elf cleric and she wore a blue halter with a long blue skirt with two slits up the side. I like the color blue so I went high elf cleric. I learned though that I like the chance to get down and dirty. I want to fight, I want to heal, I want to cast. Paladins are the class to do that. I'm also crap when it comes to PvP and because of their spells it's harder to kill them. I need that...badly. :) I'm having a fun time dinking around. She's level 5 and a half. Half a more level to go before I get to train again and get new spells and buffs and stuff. It's just so very different then EQ when it comes to that. For spells in EQ you had to scribe them into your spell book which could take forever. In WoW once you train it's in your spell book for you. I like it! XD I probably should buy the account now and stuff, but we just paid our deductable and I reallllllly don't want to spend about 100+ on the discs required for me to be a blood elf. right now. hehehe
Oh yeah speaking of being sucked in. A while back I spoke of a co-worker who started to play the game. We'll call him X to make it simple. Well a while back X's vehicle was making a noise when coming out of first gear. X talked to the President about the noise and then when it was lunch time X went to lunch. Where did X go? To the mechanics? To the car dealer X bought the vehicle from? No, he went home to play WoW!! XD Then after X's lunch break he went to the mechanic which took him forever to return to work!! (There's more to the story, but that's the only part that had to do with WoW.) Even when I was an EverCrack whore I wouldn't have done that. X was so worried about X's vehicle and thinking it was something important and so it should be handled right away. Then why go home? Oh yeah, you're addicted. XD hehehe
Will it get that way for me? Naw. I'm too busy with other things I refuse to let go of to get too sucked in. When WoW first came out I wanted to play, but because of the EQ addiction leaving a bad taste in our mouth we didn't. When my husband's friend wanted him to play he started, but my computer couldn't handle it so I went onto other things. (Running Animanga Network, blogging and working with the SnS group.) I miss playing with my husband though so this should be nice.
Oh yeah for those of you who have a PS3 have you seen the new Unreal Tournament? It looked sweet and even got a 4 out of 5 starts from Attack of the Show...or was it X Play. Any ways I'm confused since the same hosts took over Attack of the show for a little. By the way am I the only one who thinks the chick has just GOT TO GO? I'm not sure how or why she rubs me the wrong way, but she does so I rarely watch X Play anymore. (For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about they are both shows on G4. X Play is JUST got gaming consoles though and does reviews, pretty spot on too. and Attack of the Show is just a mish mash. G4 used to be the wonderful TechTV, but then was taken over and most of it's actual tech shows went to hell in a hand basket. Before they were fun to watch and even I could understand them. Now they are pretty much on the lame side.)
WoW... it's really.. wow.. And I thought my brothers being addicted to Dota is bad. X's case is really really bad addiction..

Lol AH Dota is taking over everything....half of every custom game hosted on Warcraft 3 is a DOTA, it gets really annoying for us non-dota people.
I used to play The Matrix Online...it was so much fun. I miss it a lot, but it also ruined my life because I was sitting on the computer for sooooo long every day jus to play it -_- I'm pretty sure WoW is just like that, maybe even worse. I got a 2-week trial CD with the warcraft battle chest I bought a while ago, but I'm too afraid I'll get sucked in if I even try it for a little bit. Besides, my girlfriend hates WoW DX
