Today I heard she cried..
Sunday. 11.19.06 11:05 pm
I took my best friend to the airport this morning. She was going to Japan for her fathers "homecoming". It has been one year since is death. In the Japanese culture they celebrate the one year and I think every year after their death. It is a rememberance thing but I think the first year is the most important.

She called from the airport because the travel agent booked her flight for the wrong MONTH. She was stuck at the airport with plans for her fathers special event and no way to get to Japan. She was in tears. My friend NEVER cires. I have not seen her cry but she told me that she was in tears and did not know what to do.

The flight attendant was able to help her by selling her a buddy pass for $800.

No more BOMBS for you
Tuesday. 2.13.07 9:35 am
BEIJING - North Korea agreed Tuesday after arduous talks to shut down its main nuclear reactor and eventually dismantle its atomic weapons program, just four months after the communist state shocked the world by testing a nuclear bomb.

The deal marks the first concrete plan for disarmament in more than three years of six-nation negotiations. The plan also could potentially herald a new era of cooperation in the region with the North's longtime foes — the United States and Japan — also agreeing to discuss normalizing relations.

The country has sidestepped previous agreements, allegedly running a uranium-based weapons program even as it froze a plutonium-based one — sparking the latest nuclear crisis in late 2002. There are believed to be countless mountainside tunnels in which to hide projects.

Under the deal, the North would receive initial aid equal to 50,000 tons of heavy fuel oil for shutting down and sealing its main nuclear reactor and related facilities at Yongbyon, north of the capital, within 60 days, to be confirmed by international inspectors. For irreversibly disabling the reactor and declaring all nuclear programs, the North will eventually receive another 950,000 tons in aid. The total is worth $250 million. (this is ridiculous! we dont have enough for our country and now we are going to give them 50k tons of oil??)

One million tons of oil would be equivalent to more than two-thirds of North Korea's entire oil consumption in 2004, according figures in the CIA Factbook.

But Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in Tokyo that his country would not contribute aid to the North until the issue of the abductions of its citizens by North Korea is resolved. North Korea has admitted to abducting Japanese citizens, but not to Japan's satisfaction. (The abductions are pretty bad. I really doubt they will confess to all of them.)

Ichiro Suzuki !!
Friday. 6.1.07 11:18 am

I totally want to meet Ichiro in person. He is much younger than I am but he is just soooooo handsome and talented!!!

Ichiro Suzuki (鈴木 一朗, Suzuki Ichirō?), often known simply as Ichiro (イチロー, Ichirō?), is the center fielder for the Seattle Mariners Major League Baseball team. He was born October 22, 1973, in Toyoyama, Nishikasugai, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

Ichiro moved to the United States in 2001 after playing for nine years for the Orix Blue Wave in Japan's Pacific League. When the Blue Wave posted him after the 2000 season, Ichiro's rights were won by Seattle and he signed a contract with the Mariners. He became the first Japanese-born everyday position player in the Major Leagues. Ichiro did not miss a beat in his transition. He immediately established himself as one of the premier players in the American Major Leagues, matching or even surpassing his accomplished career in Japan.

2004 was his most impressive offensive season yet, as he set several MLB records, including a new all-time, single-season Major League record with 262 hits. Ichiro, equipped with one of the strongest and most accurate throwing arms in the league, is recognized as one of the best defensive outfielders in baseball. He has won a Gold Glove award in each of his first six years in the majors, all six as a right fielder.

Suzuki is the first MLB player to join The Golden Players Club.

TAMIFLU!
Tuesday. 3.20.07 8:49 pm
The flu is going around and it is a bad one! I was really sick with it and I understand that some of you NuTangers are getting sick as well. Be very careful because I have heard that the prescription, TAMIFLU has been known to cause serious side effects.

"These are tranquilizers, sedatives or hypnotics. These cause discontrol or disregulation of the central nervous system. So it may cause very bizarre phenomenon or behavior," said Dr. Hama.

Investigators say in one case last year, a 17-year-old boy, after taking the medication, left his home during a snowstorm, and jumped in front of a truck and died.
Earlier this year, a 14-year-old boy, after taking one Tamiflu capsule, jumped or fell from the ninth floor of an apartment building. READ MORE

I was talking to my bf in the car on the way to this library and he was telling me that two kids jumped out of the window. One kid jumped but they grabbed him and pulled him back inside. They changed rooms and only God knows why nobody was "watching" the kid, he ran to the window and jumped again. This time they were only on the second floor so he did not die. Just broken bones.

I need another upgrade
Tuesday. 7.24.07 1:30 pm
I am such a cell phone adict. I know it is a disease!!! I posted pictures of my last two cell phone purchases. I think I like the lastest one the best which was the white chocolate phone by LG. However, I have been learning that more and more people are using their phones to watch tv and text. In Japan people are watching youtube videos on their cell phones.

My friend has a cousin that stayed here in the states with her and her family for 2 months. His cell phone had tv, text messaging and other features. He said that they do not use their cell phones to make phone calls. I have never seen anyone that can text with one hand as fast as he can!!! I was like DAY-YUM!!! From what I understand they have shortened japanese words like we have lol, rotf and lmao. It is not abreviated like that but it serves the same purpose.

So far Just Japan and Korea have the tv broadcasting on cell phones. They are begining to open this market in Indoesia this week. So Indonesia, prepare yourself for the next wave of the future. I wonder if it will hit the states and if so, how soon?
