I need a drink
Monday. 9.30.13 9:36 pm
Ever have one of those days where an hour in to your shift you were already wanting a drink? That was me ... at 7am. I was cranky today and it's mostly due to the fact that I didn't sleep very well last night. I just couldn't get my mind to shut off. All day I was just in a bad mood and everything that anyone said to me seemed to get on my nerves.

The first part of the shift at Sam's was like that too, but it mellowed out a bit as the night went on. It's hard to stay in a bad mood when the people around you are in good moods. It did bum me out when I got caught with my tongue ring in. I'm usually good about keeping it hidden, but this actually gives me the chance to gauge it up again. I'll be buying clear ones and I can go up to 8's and still keep it hidden.

Three more days and I finally get a full weekend. It'll be busy with stuff, but I will get to sleep in both days. It's the first full weekend that I'll have had since starting the second job two months ago. I'm ready for it. Honestly I'm more ready for just simply having two days off than I am the celebrating part. It'll be a nice, calming, stress-free weekend. I just have to get there first. . .

Until tomorrow. . .

Time consuming
Sunday. 9.29.13 7:01 pm
Has anyone else ever sat down to think about how much of our lives are consumed by work? I'm not just talking about the time in which you're actually at work, but the time that occurs before and after. How many hours, or minutes, before you have to be at work do you wake up to get ready? How long is your commute to and from? How much time do you spend making sure you have sufficient sustenance for the coming shift? It's amazing how much time we lose for ourselves when we think about all the time that gets put in to work.

The coming shifts this week I'll be spending nearly every minute between the hours of 4:45am {when my first alarm goes off} until around 9:30pm {when I get home from my second job} as dedicated to work, whether it be the commute, prep or actual work. I don't count the winding down process because that's about the only me time I actually have. I also don't count the sleeping part of that because I need sleep for every day activities and I get about the same amounts regardless if I'm working or not.

I get that I'm crazy for working two jobs, but actually putting numbers to it and thinking about it makes me actually feel like I'm crazy. Besides, the payoff in the end will be worth it.

Anywho, I took a nap this afternoon when I got home from work and I woke up thinking I had slept through my alarm for tomorrow morning's shift. Then I realized that it isn't that light out at that time of the morning anymore so I was okay. I hate that feeling when you sleep really well and wake up, glance at the time and have a mini panic attack only to later realize it's only been a couple hours, not an entire day/night. It's worse when it actually happens and you did sleep through your alarm, but in this case having your heart race that soon after you wake up is not ideal.

Until tomorrow. . .

You know you're tired...
Saturday. 9.28.13 9:02 am
... when you lay down for a nap around 5pm and don't wake up until around 1am, then fall back asleep and don't wake up again until around 8:30am. I do believe working all these extra hours finally caught up to me. The only downside is that it caused me to miss an entry yesterday; I was planning on writing it when I woke up from my nap. Oh well. I haven't missed any days since April, I think, so I'm still doing pretty good on this entry-a-day challenge.

I'm definitely glad I did my laundry yesterday. I wanted to get it done yesterday just so that I would be able to sleep in this morning. Well, I did get the sleeping in part done, but if I had planned on doing my laundry after my nap, I would have been screwed because I didn't wake up in time this morning to get it done before I have to leave for work, nor would I have enough time tonight when I got home to get it done.

It's cool and rainy today. Definitely a Fall day in Seattle. That probably helped with keeping me comfortable while I slept for nearly 16 hours. I'm fairly certain it'll go on for most of the day, which I'm okay with. This is my favorite time of year. Once it gets cold and rainy, the chance of snow and ice increases and I'm not okay with that. Hopefully the hard hitting weather happens while I'm in Vegas, but I have serious doubts since the hard hitting stuff doesn't usually happen until January or February.

Alright, I am going to watch the YouTube videos and Hulu shows that I planned on watching last night. I have a couple hours before I need to head north for work and I plan on enjoying them.

Until tomorrow. . . {hopefully}

Quick turn around
Thursday. 9.26.13 9:49 pm
I'm scheduled for that morning shift at Sam's tomorrow. Hopefully it's painless. I will most likely never work this early again, but we'll have to wait and see what happens. It's entirely possible for that to become a regular thing on Saturday's, but since they usually have me closing, I'm sure it won't happen any time soon.

I get to sleep in an extra hour tomorrow morning than I normally would for my regular job. Then again, it's my day off so I'll be waking up far too early. Oh well. I'll be getting off work at 11:30 and still having the rest of the day to kind of do whatever. It's another pseudo day off.

I got a chunk of my debt paid today. I still owe about $50, but they were willing to work with me on the first option since I pretty much had most of what they were asking for. I'm not getting charged any more so I'll only be short $400 from my trip instead of just over $500. So come the 11th, I'll have on debt collector off my back. I'm still dealing with paying off another one and there's a third one that just started contacting me, but I know what that's for. It'll be the last thing to get taken care of.

A coworker looked at my tires tonight and told me that three of them are bad. I was planning on getting new tires soon anyway, but I was going to wait until after my trip. I may still wait, but at least now I know what the state of them is. The plan was to make sure I had enough money to buy 4 brand new tires and get them insured. I'll have to look online to see around how much that costs.

With all this paying off stuff, I may just keep the Sam's job until I'm caught up on everything. Hell, once I get my debt or car paid off, I will have a lot of extra money coming in so the second job won't really be necessary. All I have to do is get my vacation taken then I'll dive deeper in to what I owe and how much time is needed to pay it all off.

Time to watch some videos while I let my hair dry before calling it a night.

Until tomorrow. . .

'Tis the season
Wednesday. 9.25.13 9:34 pm
Fall wasted no time moving in and making itself comfortable, and I'm okay with that. It barely got above 60 today, despite the fact that the sun managed to break through the clouds. I don't mind the sun so much when it's not hot. Sunny with puffy white clouds and temps in the mid 60s is ideal. I like the rain and the dreary, wet weather, but I've lived here long enough that I don't want that every day anymore. We'll see what Mother Nature has in store for us this coming winter.

Regular work was a bitch today. I wanted to shove my radio through my boss's face. He was just pissing me off left and right, straight from the start of the shift. I hate, hate, hate when people lecture about doing something wrong, then tell me 5 minutes later to do that exact thing. Ugh! It was just one thing after another and I was so ready to get out of there. I needed to get in a nap before going in to the part time job so that I could lower by blood pressure before I ended up killing someone.

Luckily, the second job wasn't too bad and we were all out of there on time. There's a scheduling issue and the manager needs to hurry his butt back from Vegas so that he can fix it. In reality, all I really care about is having my birthday off, which had already been approved pretty much upon my hire, and this new system put me on the schedule anyway. I have plans already. I've had plans since before I got the job. There's no way I'm working that day. Sorry. Hopefully I can talk to a supervisor and since the day was already approved, it shouldn't be hard to get it fixed, but still. I shouldn't even have to worry about it being there in the first place.

This coming week leading up to my birthday is going to be a rather long week. At my part time job I work 4 hours tomorrow, 4 1/2 on Friday morning {an exception due to having this past Monday off} 8 on Saturday, off Sunday, 4 hours 15 min Monday and Tuesday, 4 hours 45 minutes Wednesday and 5 1/2 hours Thursday. It's so messed up! This is all on top of working my regular 40 hour per week job. Ugh. Once my birthday passes, then it's kind of fine. I'll need the 19th off for the party and then I can just work my silly butt off until my trip. I just have to get through the next few weeks first.

Alright, time to watch some videos and perhaps get to bed before 11. We'll see how well that goes.

Until tomorrow. . .

I'm starting to feel slightly burned out by all this working that I've been doing. I've had this second job for almost 2 months now and I'm getting tired of having to go there 5 days a week. I don't want to change my availability just yet, though, because I want to be able to save up as much as I can. I'll probably drop my availability down to 3-4 days a week once I get back and continue with that until I get sick enough of it to just quit.

The work itself hasn't been too bad. I mean, there are some days that are busier than others and I'm okay with that. I'm just getting to the point where I actually miss having the ability to just chill out and relax at home. Or have the ability to make plans with my friends without having to set up specific times and dates due to the crazy work schedule I have. I'm sure I'll be fine once I have a couple days off, like next weekend for my birthday, and can recover and recoup. We'll see what happens.

I had to turn on my heater tonight to test it out and make sure it actually works before it gets too cold and I have to deal with what I had to last spring where it broke for a week and my place got down in to the 50s. It's working just fine and it has that lovely smell that comes with it not having been turned on in a few months. I'll leave the thermostat set to 67 so that it'll come on and off throughout the night and hopefully burn off the last of the dust. Also, this means that I'll be nice and comfy cozy in the morning when I wake up.

Until tomorrow. . .
