Creepy Liscense stuff
Friday. 4.18.08 12:04 am
So, I heard in book arts class today that they are going to ask for your DNA and stuff in the future in order for you to get an ID...

I don't know if it's true. I googled it and it barely even came up except on forum sites. I know they have the technology, but... creepy. I don't think people will stand for it. I know that it shouldn't be a big deal but... NO! It's my skin cells, blood cells, eyelash cells and you are NOT using it to track me! I mean, it's like one big future horror story. In fact I may write one:

"In the future... everyone is forced to release their DNA just to get a driver's liscense... cloning... rising crime... and people are not just stealing you ID number anymore... they are stealing you life!"

Seriously though, I feel safe being identified by a number. I mean the number doesn't really have any control over me and what? Someone is paying taxes under my name? I mean, you don't give out you ssn to get a credit card, so I don't see why identification is such a big deal. Oh look, you need it to leave the country, oooh noooo! Someone forged a passport to get out of the country!!!... and get back in. The point is that I don't see why they have to steal my DNA. It may not be my right to drive, but it is certainly important and its almost... extortion to steal your DNA.... come to think of it though, they did fingerprint me when I got my liscense renewed... oh goll.

How to tie a shoe and other remedies
Wednesday. 4.16.08 12:57 am

Wow... it's really amazing how much HTML you remember. I mean... I still don't know how to make this text go to the top... but I will just write enough to make it work.

Anyway, I guess I should tell you how my project went. Bleh... So yeah, here are the pictures.

So, I am going to try to be more patient. We were reading the end of the Ephesians, you know the part that says that you really just have to stick it out and be the best person you can because it's about God, not about them? Yeah... and that's what we were talking about in bible study and it made me feel a little bad. Okay, so a lot bad. I mean, it's not like I'm "quick to anger" or anything? I have been fighting off bad feeling about her since a month after she got here. Sucks when you can't start over with people, you know?

So yeah, I'm going to just be REALLY nice to for the next couple of weeks, for God... because He deserves a little effort on my part.

Does your dog bite?
Saturday. 4.5.08 8:29 pm
I went to the shelter today. I got to play with puppies! I think my volunteer work MUST be cheating... I mean you have people: "I painted a house in Mexico and had the runs for a week!" "I went to mission in China and I was constantly afraid of being caught by the gostapos!" and then me, "I went to the shelter just a couple of blocks away and I took out three puppies and played with them for an hour!"

Not all of it was fun and games, though. You may not know this... but puppies bite! They're like toddlers, their mouths really have to explore everything, the only difference is that puppies have sharp pointy fangs that... don't break the skin, but they're like little needles. Frankly, it was friggen adorable, but I thought to myself, "When they get bigger, this won't be adorable". So when they bit me, I would push them away and ignore them. They were all tounges for the last half of the day!

The thing is, it really IS important to show no tolerance to your dog;s biting AS SOON AS YOU CAN! As I was going out, I saw this pretty little herding breed mix with white, gray and black. The officers were telling the owner that when she surrendered him, they would have to put him down. Why? Because he had a bite history. The dog had been allowed to become so territorial that the family's son was actually scared of the dog. You could tell that the mother was very upset that she A. had to give the dog up and B. it had to be euthanized, but it just goes to show, you have to catch that stuff early or NO ONE will be able to tolerate your dog.

In other news... I think I have enough chinese to eat for a whole week! I have this little "Ten Commandments" plate... a dessert plate and I filled it with chinese and ate all of it. Very happy, very full. But, I still have practically two full cartons of chinese, the rice, a couple of fortune cookies and a these free sugary things that they gave me! Isn't that amazing! I am going to eat like a queen and no food poisoning for me! Eat that Washakie!

The date!
Friday. 4.4.08 10:52 pm
Okay... so I went on the date. Hurray! It was pretty fun. He was an interesting guy: we talked about where we wanted to go, what we wanted to do, pets, careers, all the usual stuff. I have a piece o' pizza in my micowave *yesh* and a new pair of pants that I bought *even more yesh* and so overall, I think the whole thing went pretty well.

I am not sure we exactly... hit is off, so that's a shame, but I think we would probably be fine friends without any sparks flying... 'cause... there really weren't. Not a whole lot of fireworks or pitterpattering of the heart, but, meh, I can't say that I didn't have a good time!

In conclusion, I think that this dating thing worked out well so far and will hopefully be splendid in the future.

Much Ado About Glue and other things
Thursday. 4.3.08 9:56 pm
Glue is sort of an interesting thing. When I first started to learn about different kinds of glue, or rather care, I thought that they were really all the same thing: oh you really just like one glue or another, but the truth is is that glue is a very complex issue. In fact, I believe people have written books and books about the dubious merits of different sorts of glue. There is Elmers glue and stick glue, rubber cement and tacky glue, PVA and 3M, super glue and hot glue and yes! paste and Nori and hodge podge. All of them are different kinds of glues and you know what? It isn't about favorites. At some time in your career as an artist (certainly mine) you have to use ALL of these glues for different reasons, so if you don't like a glue, you can't just... not use it! You and the glue have to get along, work together and hopefully the anthropomorphic qualities that you attach to the glue will subside and you can actually start liking the glue and realizing that you, indeed, are the master of the glue.

Speaking of relationship... you might know that I set up a date. The problem is that... while I set up the when and the where I didn't set up any of the logistics factors like... do we met there? Do we meet here? Do we drive his car? My car? I kind of think that this sort of thing is important to iron out, but I also don't want to look like a fool and... call again. So what should I do?

Odd Contraptions from the lower sections of mental consciousness
Tuesday. 4.1.08 11:28 pm
I have an odd project on my desk right now.

It's a mouse trap box with a mouse book inside. We are supposed to make a boxed book... so I did.

I bought the mousetraps... because I thought that I was going to use them in a different way... but then I decided not to but I thought, "I have eight friggen mousetraps! I have to do something with them"... so I did.

In other news, I met five people, set my date (OMG!) and am currently in a very... odd mood. Odd things come out of odd moods.... so far I am fond of the book.
