2004 Mock Draft V.5.0
Sunday. 6.20.04 10:45 am
First Round
1. Orlando -Emeka Okafor
Orlando can build around Okafor, since T-Mac wants out. However, the Magic might still be a mediocre team with Okafor and the players they obtain for T-Mac (?Francis/Cato....Marion/Johnson?)

*2. LA Clippers -Dwight Howard
The Clippers trade this pick along with center Predrag Drobnjak to the Charlotte Bobcats for their 4th pick.
The Clippers make the deal to unload the salary of Drobnjak. They already have an abundance of power fowards (Brand, Ely, Wilcox) so they do not need Howard. They can still get a premier point guard or small forward at Charlotte's pick.

3. Chicago-Luol Deng
Chicago gets a somewhat unpolished small forward. However, over time he will blossom into a very good player. He has tremendous skill and athleticism. In a couple years, Chandler, Curry, and Deng may be able to drive the team into the playoffs.

*4. Charlotte -Shaun Livingston
The Bobcats trade this pick to the Clippers for the 2nd pick and center Predrag Drobnjak
The Bobcats may waive Drobnjak after they acquire him. With this trade, they get one of the two best players in the draft. Although Livingston is suitable for an expansion team, Howard will probably quicken the building process.

5. Washington-Andre Iguodala
Iguodala is a tremendous defennsive-oriented player. He is also a top-notch athlete, possibly the best in the first round. He can play both sg and sf. He can step in and start at small forward, with another young talent, Jarvis Hayes, backing him up.

6. Atlanta-Ben Gordon
A very good scorer for a point guard. Gordon can provide spark off the bench behind Terry. If Sura or Jackson aren't back next season, he may possibly start alongside Terry, making the Hawks' backcourt small, but quick.

7. Phoenix -Devin Harris
He can step in and be an effective starter for the Suns, rather than Barbosa or Eisley. The Suns may have a bright future with Harris, Johnson, Marion, Amare. Although half of that core may be gone in exchange for T-Mac.

8. Toronto -Jameer Nelson
Nelson, a premier player in college, is undersized, but effective. The Raptors are weak in point guard depth. Nelson could put an end to that weakness.

9. Philadelphia -Luke Jackson
A versatile player, capable of rebounds, assists, and definitely points. He is an awesome outside shooter. If Aaron Mckie gets taken in the expansion draft,he can fill Aaron's role. His role will be like Korver's but probably with more minutes and impact.

10. Cleveland-Josh Childress
The Cavs will be ecstatic with this pick. Although they are looking to deal the pick for a proven veteran, they probably will keep Childress, since he can make an impact right away. In a few years, he can blossom and make a greater impact with the team. This pick may help inch the team closer to a spot in the playoffs.

11. Golden State -Andris Biedrins
Proabably the best foreign prospect in the draft, he will eventually be a vital part of this team. This team still has a way to go before heading back into the playoffs, even with a good player like Andris, but this pick will pay off (He just turned 18).

12. Seattle -Pavel Podkolzine
A giant, but he is somewhat unrefined. However, he has good footwork and speed for someone his size. Hopefully, he will contribute to the team and not prove to be another one of the Sonics' ineffective big men.

13. Portland -Josh Smith
He is a high flyer who will provide impact off the Blazers' bench. Along with Randolph. this team may have a pretty bright future along with a pretty decent team already.

14. Utah -Rafael Araujo
The Jazz has promised to pick him here. They also made that promise to Sergei Monya.

15. Boston -Robert Swift
Swift's caliber is mysterious due to lack of workouts and showcase. However, he has proven good skills and effort in his high school videos. Reportedly, the Celtics have promised to nab him.

16. Utah -Sergei Monya

17. Atlanta -Al Jefferson

18. New Orleans -Kirk Snyder

19. Miami -Kris Humphries
