I know I’ve been away from NuTang quite a bit lately except for my sneak attacks of blogs I type at work or home and then post and leave. I do have a good reason though. I’ve been going a bit crazy at work. The good news about me going crazy? I got promoted! That’s right I’m no longer “the receptionist”!! XD I don’t have an exact title right now and it didn’t come with a raise, but I did gain a cubical! I know even better ne? For those of you who have one or an office don’t realize the great importance of a cubical. See when you have a cubical you have walls that you decorate how you want to. I’ve never been able to hang or put anything on “my” walls as a receptionist since they are viewed as “company” walls. I’m thinking of having Kinkos make me a smallish Jun Calendar to put up. XD I don’t use calendars and have no real use for it other then to have it hanging next to my desk, but that’s good enough of a reason right?

I have noticed it’s a trend to put up family or friend pictures in your office or cubical. This deems a problem for me since I don’t wanna. I see my boyfriend everyday and at lunch if we want to. Am I really that obsessed I need him at work too? (I also only have two pictures of me with him that were taken when we first got together.) Well if you asked me this two years ago the answer would have been, “Hell yeah!” I’ve changed though and am trying to get away from my clingy, obsessive, staring at him for no reason that tends to freak him out sort of ways. I guess I could put up some family pictures, but in all honesty I’d prefer to put up pictures of manga and anime characters. Yeah I know I suck at the family thing huh? :) I’m guessing I’ll end up commissioning a collage of anime and manga char pics to have printed and put up on a section of one of my walls.

The other reason why I haven’t been around, well this weekend anyways, is the guest we have had over at our house. It was a nice visit, better then expected. While my boyfriend doesn’t have a huge amount in common with his friend anymore they are funny as hell when you get them together. Before when his friend made “gay” jokes I’d play along and laugh, but ever since I started reading yaoi I noticed his jokes brought up images that I did not want to vision. It’s truly not the same seeing two fictional drawn characters go at it then picturing two guys you’ve seen/know go at it. I’m not sure why, but the whole time I just laughed. Of course he got to scare the crap out of me. What is it that screams to everyone “Scare her, she wants it!” It’s just not right! He laughed his ass off about it, and so did my boyfriend as he replied, “Yeah she’s really easy to scare so only two points.” I asked him why and he said, “It just seemed like a good thing to do. You were just standing there looking so intensely at the TV deciding what you’d watch while exercising.” ... Bastard! <_< hehehe

Speaking of yaoi volume 4 of Our Kingdom came today and it looks soooo good! I think I might have to have a Starbucks morning tomorrow! XD Kimi wa Petto came as well and from the summary it’s going to be a REALLY good one!! I can’t wait to read them.

I wasn’t going to blog today, but something happened Thursday night that I just have to talk about. Last night I dropped by my mom’s house and she’s worn out from teaching lil’ rug rats... *cough* I mean Junior High students all day. We’re talking about our day and she tells my niece that she still needs to do her project. My mom is upset at first because my niece was only given 2-3 days on this project. I’m thinking it’s a huge project, but it turns out she’s only required to make a pyramid. That’s it. She wasn’t given any instructions on height, weight, detail, etc. I look at my mom and said, “So XXX has had 2-3 days to complete a very simple project and you’re upset at the teacher because...?” She then realizes who’s fault it is. It seems my niece just does the minimum on everything. She doesn’t get very good grades and I’m always shocked when she’s satisfied with what I would consider below average marks, a C. To me a B is acceptable if you’ve tried hard, but of course an A is always what you should be working for. When she was younger she used to get very good grades and tried for them so I’m pretty shocked that she’s now ok with Bs and Cs. I guess I now know why she was shocked to hear me call my art teacher a bastard for giving me a B+ on a drawing I did when we were going through all of my old stuff I had saved at my mom’s house. (The drawing was a perfect replica, even the coloring, and deserved a solid A at least! Damn bastard! <_< )

My mom knows this is my forte and asked for my help. When in school I never did the minimum. If a teacher asked us to do a report I handed on in with pictures to complement it. If my teacher asked for a diagram I did one that it would put the others to shame. So I spend an hour measuring, designing, etc. this pyramid for my niece. I made her cut it though since I didn’t want her to do nothing, although I would have preferred that since I didn’t want it to end up looking like crap, but it had to be something she did. In the end as I told her the plan and what she needed to do to complete it she looked at me and then my mom with a look that showed what I had designed was not in her realm of thinking. I thought I was doing the bare minimum. I just designed a very simple four sided pyramid plus base that opened up to show the tomb below ground and pyramid that opened up to show the “booby” traps inside. She ended up only using half of my design, but I guess if she did too much it wouldn’t look like she did it. As I left them to the project I reminded my mom that when they drew on the stones to make it with a pencil and to make sure they match up. She gave me a look that could kill and said, “Um…I think it will be ok if I don’t.” See what happens when you don’t do it yourself? It’s not done “right”.

When did doing the basic and minimum become ok? Is this something that most kids do? Kuri, Ani, Sylphie and Airi don’t count since I know they aren’t like this, but really do most kids now think that getting Cs are ok? That just being a drone and not thinking outside the box to make a project your own and the very best is acceptable? When did this go into effect? I must have missed that memo. Can someone please send me a copy?

Changed the song. Sad to say this song is pretty true. Girls are definitely a lot more careless around guys who are gay since, well they are gay. XD
